DIY: 11 Pin Door Mirror (Folding, Heated, Smart Key)
Yeah you could be right.
here i can see the outercasing and the main switch in it.

thanks for that.
the crv switch is not the right one for me, my EDM Jazz has a amber lightning and the crv switch a white one. that will not fit together.

I am curious to find the upgraded LED blinker that you had mention,
so I try to search and I found the aftermarket LED Blinker and some different Aftermarket Heated Mirror which even have LED on the mirror it self.
Here are the link to my search:
http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/s...mmerce&fixed=0
after I found those, I think I pass on the aftermarket LED blinker,
they might be brighter but I prefer the more understated factory LED blinker look.
The Aftermarket Heated Mirror with the LED light on the surface of the mirror (glass) is more interesting though... I really like them...
but I worry that the LED on the glass surface might distract me when I am looking at the rear view during the night,
so as nice as they were, I think for now I stay with the stock factory heated mirror.
After market LED Blinker:

SMOKED Colored one:

Aftermarket do looks brighter when Lighted:

Now this is NICE, but as I said, I worry the lighted LED might distract me during the night... :

Although 7800 yen seems a little steep. Wonder if anyone here's got this?

Ordered this a few days ago...

Seen them post about it over on the CR-Z forums, so I asked about the Garuda ones posted earlier in this thread, and they said they never got a reply... could've been communication difficulties. So I bought the factory-direct.jp ones.
I emailed Rin Yamakawa ( @ info-sales@factory-direct.jp ) , and I got a response within hours. The next day he sent me a paypal invoice, and my mirrors should be here the latest by Saturday (or early next week) The total w/shipping, paypal fees, etc was ~$140, and these are the same type as the others posted - heated, blue tint polarization & repels water, LED turn signal on the mirror.
Looks like I'm going to have to order the JDM auto-fold harness at the very minimum to at least finish the mirrors.
So glad I found these before buying the CDN heated mirrors, or the Mugen/JDM Honda Aqua Cleans. Thanks for the original find Alpina!!!

Wow, a mirror that combines everything. Id love to have those.
So you're going to have autofold, heated, led signals on the mirror cover and behind the glass, and water repellant? All you need now is the autotilt function

Please get the Auto Tilt function tooooooo
because that way you can post a DIY and I can just learn from you

congratulations on your new Mirror,
please kindly post a DIY on fitfreak as soon as you install them
I will get the auto-tilt, but not the Honda one because I wouldn't know where to begin to start de/re-pinning... plus one thing I don't like about the Honda one is that it's only one side. I know you can roll down the window on the driver side and look, but I'd rather both sides tilt, and no need for rolling down windows in rain/snow/heat, etc, etc.
I'll be getting the KP Technologies one.
I've read the install instructions many times, and I'm pretty sure I can knock it out when doing the full mirror swap.
As for DIY, I'll take as many pics as I can with my crappy entry level point & shoot.... although I will be following your DIY's & the previous ones on the JDM covers.
I'll even post them here if you wish... It's really only splicing a few wires (heated, and the turn signal).
Yeah connor, it's the full feature ones... I wanted the Canadian heated ones, but I also wanted the water repellant features & the blue tint to help reduce glare from all these HID headlights (& people driving with they're highbeams on) around here. Next purchase to complement these will be the Spoon blue tinted wide angle rear mirror. The turn signal on the mirror is ok, since I have the JDM mirrors they already have the signal on the sides.
I just can't justify the price of the Zoom Engineering blue-tint rear mirror (plus mounting).

Please post a review on the mirrors after you've got them running. It looks like they are aftermarket, and I just want to know if the quality is as good as oem.
I might be tempted to get the same things in the future with everything you have but the auto tilt(not a feature I crave).
I may even get those extra bright winker LEDs that are supposed to replace the oem ones on the mirror cover.

that is interesting !
I've linked that KP technologies one in several threads... there was an older thread which showed them installed... edit: found it ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-function.html
Im not sure if there will be much interest in this but I thought Id throw this out there. I have this feature in my other car where the passenger side mirror tilts down when I put the car in reverse. Its very helpful when parking near curbs to avoid "curbing" your rims. I had this module installed by my local stereo shop because I wasnt sure what wires to tap into. But its not too hard if yo know what you're doing. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll point you to the website (to purchase module) and tell you what wires you need.

After I saw the vid clip, I knew I wanted that feature.
Here's the DIY, and some reviews from the CR-Z forum DIY: Polarized/convex/heated side mirrors w/LED turn signal - Honda CRZ Forum: Honda CR-Z Hybrid Car Forums
of course their install is a little easier since they already have the heated & turn signal functions.
of course their install is a little easier since they already have the heated & turn signal functions.
These came in on Saturday. Super fast shipping, they were still in Japan Friday am (local time).

Turn signal LED lit

I still haven't installed them, but they look as good if not better than OEM. The signal LED's are literally invisible when not lit, you can't tell where they are. The blue tint glass over the assembly covers them completely and if you don't hook them up you'd never know they have turn signal LED's on them.
These also came with tap connectors for the signals. They're meant for cars already equipped with the heated option so the OEM clips slide right on the aftermarket mirrors. Alpina, for your 11-pin mirrors these should be a direct swap, only need to tap the signal wires.
Since we (USDM GE8's) don't have the heated option, I've decided to cut the signal wires and use them as the heated connections, then solder new insulated/waterproof connectors which I will solder to the OEM signal wires.
The heater connections are on the left in the pic below (kinda blurry though).

I also ordered the auto-fold harness and some other stuff from rakuten.
Need to order that strip caulk Alpina mentioned, and get a molex connector. Alpina, do you have a part # on those or which pc store to get them from?

Wow, those blue mirror is BEAUTIFUL,
Please kindly tell me whether they result in better VISION after you install them.
You see, my STOCK OEM Honda regular heated mirror were designed
for Right Hand Drive Car,
so the Left Mirror is good enough but the Right side mirror do not have enough wide vision, Plus I had to turn them all the way in...
after you install your Blue mirror, please kindly check whether you have to turn the right mirror all the way in or not, if you don't have to turn it all the way in, that mean your mirror have wider viewing angle then mine,
and this mean I might need to buy the same mirror like yours...
now the strip caulk,
here are the pictures of it,
I order from Amazon and here is the link to it:

now for the MOLEX connector,
I bought them at Frys, is there any Frys in New York? if not you can always order online...
the first pair that I bought were too big that I will not fit the small opening on the door,
this is the one that is too big:

now the second Molex Connector that will fit is this 2 kind
take note that I have 11 pin cable, so I need 2 kind so there is enough connection to adapt the 11pin cable, if you don't have as much connection as mine, no need to buy 2 kind like me...
The one with the 4 cable is the extension cable with both female and male molex end for Floopy or CD ROM power cable inside a PC
The second one with the eight cable and both female and male molex end
is for Video Graphic Card power supply extension inside a PC.
it is easier to buy connector like this 2 because instead of having to insert the cable into the PIN, all you need to do is cut the cable in half,
then soldered the cable to each end,...
for example take that 4 cable molex,
can them in half,
then soldered the half to Mirror side and soldered the other half to the car wiring side,
and later just connect the female and male molex connector together...
easy right?
I don't have the part number for this 2 connector at Frys,
but I am sure you can search them easily at Frys.com or eBay or
just bring this picture to a PC store in NY and they should be able to get you this cable.
here are the pictures:

Please make sure that when you connect the heater cable,
choose the larger AWG cable,
cause those heater should draw more current then the mirror motor or the LED turn signal,...
also make sure you fused them correctly
because even though this mirror looks nice,
but the heating element quality of this aftermarket mirror might not be as good as OEM Honda,
so knock on wood, but if you have fuse protection and larger size AWG cable, this will reduce the risk
of those heating element drawing too much current and melt down the power cable that supply them current.
again congratulations,
your blue mirror with that LED turn signal looks very "exclusive" and "upscale" , very nice indeed

oh, I also remember that you want to buy a Spoon Blue Wide interior rear view mirror right?
if you can find, it might be even better to buy a Broadway OPTICS Blue Mirror. this is no longer in production but the lens had blue coating from "Hoya",
I am using this Broadway large OPTICS blue mirror attached to my standard Honda interior rear view mirror,
but I bought this in 1993 so it might not be easy to find anymore...
I have some 2 more pieces of this Broadway mirror, but I am going to keep it for me in case I have 2 more car in the future

again the type is Broadway OPTICS, it is wide mirror and I think it had even wider view than the Spoon one...
like this one (this is not mine but I am just link from picture at internet, too lazy to take picture of mine
)

You confused me with that 2 connector (double connector)... lol
I get it though... I'll leave that as a last resort, I'm sure I can find them in the computer chains around here.
How many pins can the USDM harness/clip hold?
I think I'll need 9 total (3 - mirror functions, 2 - auto-fold, 2 - signal/blinker, 2 - heated function).
But then the problem is finding more pins for the clips? I think you guys mentioned the pins/connections are smaller than the pigtails for the switch?
I could just use quick connects for those right by the connectors, but I think I might have a different solution. I'll let you know if it works out.
The heated wires I'll definitely use a thicker wire which I have, but I need to buy some smaller gauge wires for the signal, and some waterproof/insulated connectors.
As for the Broadway mirror, thanks for the suggestion, but I have to pass.
Although they are very helpful & functional, I don't like the looks of them. A friend had them in his cars, when I borrowed the CRX it was great that you can see everything, but it takes up all the space, hard to use the sunvisors, and it looks like you're in a driver's ed vehicle. lol.

this is the picture of my USDM connector:

from the looks of it, it looks like it can hold 6 wires,
so I don't think it will accommodate your 9 wires need.
Yes you going to need 9 wires, mine is 11 wires cause the last 2 wires were for the smart key function which we don't used here.
so you definitely going to need another connector or molex,
regarding the depinning so you can use your original connector,...
well too much hassle for me beside it is only 6 wires maximum anyway,
so I still need another connector that is why I don't bother with depinning.
you are right about the broadway that it interfere a bit with the sun visor,
and it does look "old school" hahaha,
but as you had experience it also help with the wide angle view which mean it can cover the blind spot that the passenger mirror had,
but then again, your new blue mirror (door mirror) suppose to be wide angle right, so I guess in your case, you already have solution for the blind spot.
I can not wait for your review about your new blue door mirror,
if this new blue mirror of yours thus help with the blind spot, please kindly let me know after you install it
This is what I'm thinking....

Or maybe this part # 07XAZ-002000A (but I think this is only the pins?)
If I can find an OEM 9-pin+ connector, and pins...
I gotta figure out a connector solution. I might just install some quick connects in addition to the USDM connector you just pictured above. Or go with a cleaner molex connection, do away with the OEM connectors and call it a day. But my main goal is OEM connections.
As for the install... I just placed the rakuten order with my auto-fold harness, that should be here I'm hoping by the middle to end of next week. I'm trying to get everything prepped so next weekend I can do the install. I still have to order the auto-tilt unit from kptech and figure out where I want to tap. I'm thinking close to the fuse box.

This is what I'm thinking....

and my priority is some solid connection and the generic molex connector did provide that. I mean a PC molex connector is more mission critical compare to a door mirror motor connector right ? hehehe
the risk is losing data if the PC molex connector fail vs. you are unable to adjust your door mirror for that OEM Honda connector,
and I think the contact area of the pin inside the PC molex connector is much larger since it were designed to provide higher current then the OEM Honda connector...
yes I understand that the looks is not as nice as the Honda OEM connector,
but nobody will see it, and second the Honda OEM connector that easily available for cheap for us is the 6 pin connector and that is not enough pin.
you can of course do what that CR-Z guy do which is buy some extra japanese wiring or something but that cost extra.
and, I had not bought my JDM auto fold and auto tilt wiring since I don't
know when I will have time to do the wiring modification, so I am falling behind you in this area hahaha
but please wrote a DIY at the forum, so I can learn from your experience please

Thanks
I can't find the Honda Electrical Connector Catalog (P/N 13CNNA-3) in pdf anywhere (if anyone finds it please post a link)... it looks like one would have to buy the part directly from Honda (if it's still available anywhere).
I believe that catalog would have the exact part #'s for the 11-pin connector (and more), as well as the corresponding pins.
I thought about hacking up another OEM/JDM harness, but I'd rather not spend that much... I think I'll be going the molex route if I can't find the correct part #'s.
Knowing my schedule and how it changes so quick, you might get this install done before me Alpina.. lol

As per the kptech install http://www.kptechnologies.com/docs/M...stallation.pdf I need to tap the mirror "up" & "down" wires.
Does anyone know which ones those are by the fuse box?
Looks like I'll be studying the Service Manual tonight.

I find this:
This is the way I put the Color and Polarity:
take note that on the table below,
the first 2 combo color is The Wiring on the Mirror,
the second single color which I type inside the bracket "( )" is (Wiring from The Car/Switch),
and the last is the note about it's (Polarity)
so for example for Left Mirror to make it move downward,
you got to connect the Yellow/White wire from the mirror to the Green wire on the car wiring and
give it a Negative Current
For LEFT Mirror:
Downward Movement:
Yellow/White - (Green) : (Polarity Negative)
Yellow/Red - (Orange) : (Polarity Positive)
Upward Movement:
Yellow/White - (Green) : (Polarity Positive)
Yellow/Red - (Orange) : (Polarity Negative)
Right Movement:
Yellow/Red - (Orange) : (Polarity Negative)
Yellow/Black - (Pink) : (Polarity Positive)
Left Movement:
Yellow/Red - (Orange) : (Polarity Positive)
Yellow/Black - (Pink) : (Polarity Negative)
For RIGHT Mirror:
Downward Movement:
Yellow/White - (Green) : (Polarity Negative)
Blue - (Light Green) : (Polarity Positive)
Upward Movement:
Yellow/White - (Green) : (Polarity Positive)
Blue - (Light Green) : (Polarity Negative)
Right Movement:
Blue - (Light Green) : (Polarity Negative)
Blue/Black - (Blue) : (Polarity Positive)
Left Movement:
Blue - (Light Green) : (Polarity Positive)
Blue/Black - (Blue) : (Polarity Negative)
hope this help you
