Wink Crystal Black Mugen Grille on Non-Black GE

After seeing a few GE's with the color matched Mugen grille's I took a risk and ended up ordering the Crystal Black version for my Taffeta White to do something different

I couldn't find someone with a non-color-matched grille so hopefully this helps people who are thinking of doing the same mod

WAIS, looking good! I think it actually looks better than the white on white combination.

Thanks Joe!

My only concern was that the color wouldn't be as glossy but I am glad that I liked the way final product

Nice combination, any plans of changing the badge to red ones?

Thanks! I will easily admit that I was a little worried but knew that worst case scenario I could just repaint it.

The best thing about the Mugen grille is that it is so much easier to clean vs the OEM

Thanks I'm still on the fence about the red emblems, I might end up doing it down the road. I do have the red key fob emblem though

Every cent counts!

I normally try to justify my mods by selling something

I agree, I think it has more to do with the finish of the outline that would have normally been TW.

The fact that it is so shiny makes it look like it was always intended to be black rather than color matched.

Hey Waizzz, where did you order your Mugen grill from? Would like to purchase one for my GE8 as well

I would've thought it would work from the beginning, considering the original grille is already black.

The only thing i dislike is the tiny sliver of white thats visible when looking downish. Its on the upper edge where the overlap stops. Too bad the overlap wasn't designed to continue up and inside (under the hood). Maybe a touch of plastidip/paint/e-tape?

After another member purchased a set of OEM black mirrors to use on his silver GE and he told me how the black wasn't as shiny on them I was slightly worried about this grille being less glossy then it is. From what I can tell the grille is just gloss black instead of being Crystal Black which is more than fine for me and also means that like you said it will go with other colors easier.

I don't really mind that upper edge, I don't even notice it normally.

I'm not too big on too many contrasting accents. I have an SSM Fit, and i wouldn't do black mirrors.

I like black colored wheels, but not with my Fit. While i don't dislike black trim headlights, again, not for me on my Fit.

Of course, its all personal sense of aesthetics. Black Mugen grille doesn't clash with my sense of aesthetics, its just i like the Sports grille a little more.

I agree with you that the Sport grille looks best on your SSM, I had planned on buying it for my TW until I saw it in person and decided to take the Mugen route instead

I personally have always been a fan of the contrast and both of my cars follow the same theme. That's the great thing about modifying cars, we can all do our own thing
