It's at least good to know that we have that option, and that it actually looks like the car was meant to have the seats taken out on occasion.
Unfortunately for my job I gotta lug people around in it, or else I'd be outside doing it now. Haha |
Its your car.. that's all I can say.

I did this to an old 73 Rabbit that I had less than $600 in, 24 years ago.The car paid for itself in a week delivering newspapers and Auto Traders. It was possible to remove all of the seats in minutes with out tools..... I think that I have only had people in the back seat of my Fit twice in 3 years so it would make sense to me to remove the back seat..... I would definitely want to add sound deadening material if or when I do this.

i would love to do this but my AMP is on my pack seat(the big one) so its a no-go. but i could relocate the AMP... but to were?

Good question...I've mounted amps underneath driver/passenger seats before but doesn't look to be much room in the Fit to do this.
You might find there is room in the pocket where the spare wheel sits. |

My Amp is mounted to my sub box. It works pretty well that way. |

I took mine out a few months ago. Also, you can just throw in the smaller side of the rear seat in about 2 minutes if you need to have someone in the back. The only downside to having the seats out is I've noticed that my rear suspension sits up a smidge higher making the car look a tad odd since the T1R setup doesn't sit even to begin with.
The sun was right in front of me but I took a quick shot to show what I mean Attachment 57788 |
wait can you remove just one seat? this would be nice to do if you need cargo on one side and a passenger on the other...just seeing my options.
|
Yes, the seats can come apart, the piece of cloth holding them together can easily be removed.
|
Just took at my back two, took me about 15 mins. in all, and I love it.

F'it_ImFromTx sorta did the same thing
He just removed a little more. ;) https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...12-gutted.html Linked one pic from his thread Attachment 54830 |
I pulled out my rear seats for autocross once. The difference was amazing. Back-to-back, I gained .5s on a 40s course. Now I do it every time I autocross. I'm thinking about pulling them out permanently, but I don't know where I'd put them if they're not in the car. :/

why not just leave them folded down flat, so you can retain the flat floor for carrying things?

I shed 78 pounds from my rear.
I recently removed my rear seats in anticipation for an upcoming gymkhana at a local track. I also took out the floor brackets and covers for the seat base (added a patch of carpet to fill the space), the seat belt buckles on the floor, the seat belts behind the side panels, and the middle shoulder belt in the ceiling (saved 3 lbs from roof). In total a savings of 78 pounds! I can really feel the weight difference.

Looks good teamkitty!

Anyone wanna take a pic of this with the front seats tilted back as far as they can go??? I'd like to see if this could make the Fit a sleepable car.
|
With the seats out it is a sleepable car. :) Throw a pillow up against the hatch and your good to go. Of course one would want to beef up the cargo cover underneath before actually sleeping on it.
|
is there a DIY on this? i'd like to know where the bolts are located to remove the rear seats....
