signal from factory nav to amp?

Can you guys tell me how you would get the audio signal from the factory nav unit (I know...it's garbage) to an aftermarket amp? This amp will strictly power a JL 6w3 or 8w3. I assume there are no RCA outs on the back of the head unit. Should I buy an amp with speaker level inputs or add a stand alone unit that makes the conversion? What would a pro shop do (other than toss my factory HU out to the curb)? What is the best option for this?

I will admit that replacing the unit is the easiest for upgrading in the future but you can use the OEM radio. You can tap signal from behind the radio (where I would prefer to do it) or in the harness going to the speakers. I would run the RCA's behind the radio and get signal there incase you decide to replace it later.

Depending on the amp you might be able to run speaker wires into the amp or get one of the hi level adapters. There are plenty of options depending one what you want to do!!
