Axxess ASWC

Can anyone confirm that this product works for a GE8? Its a steering wheel control module for aftermarket systems.

Works just fine in my 2012. However, sometimes when I start the car, it won't work and I have to turn the ignition off for it to reset. I'm going to try changing the grounding point and recheck my wiring.

Yeah, it works great on my 2012 too. It only takes about 5 min for it to connect to your head unit and the steering wheel controls work great, no lag at all. Buy it from Amazon, it's about $15 cheaper.

How did you guys wire yours in on your 2012's? It says to tie a wire into pin 16 and pin 5, but on my harness there isnt any wires in those pins. Are they talking about the vehicles wiring?

Thanks!

You have to add the wires to those pins. Since I had ran my own speaker wires, I just pulled out the front L & R speaker wire from the harness and inserted them into those two pins.

I've got my whole dash torn apart. Which wires on the aswc do I connect to 5&16? I have the black/pink wire on pin 16. But idk which to use for 5. Any quick help would be appreciated!

Here's the instructions for installing it in a GE:

Grey & Red wires to pin 16 and you ground pin 5.

No prob.. it's the least I could do since I copied your headlight design on my GE :) Thanks! They look awesome!

OK.....

I connected the gray/red wire like it said, and grounded pin 5. For some reason, the mode button changes songs, and the channel button changes the radios source....

Any ideas?

Does this work for the Bluetooth controls as well? I'm getting a jvc unit and I want to be able to answer and hang up calls with the factory steering wheel controls.

Thanks

Idk for sure, but sounds like it has the "wrong manufacturer" or something programmed. Or maybe you have them backwards?

@conner, the manual says it works w the Bluetooth too, do you have Bluetooth controls/navi?

I had factory Bluetooth on a non navi fit. This included some voice recognition stuff and the answer/hang up buttons on my steering wheel. I now have a navi system with Bluetooth setup, but I haven't figured out how to wire in the steering controls.

If I look at the aswc manual, it only mentions fit with navi. I do not have the pin layout that's shown in the online diagrams either. So I'm really stuck at the moment.

jnesselroad 08-05-2012 05:39 PM

Ah, you've got a Canadian model. They didn't offer bt w/o navi in the US until the 2012 if I'm not mistaken. I don't think it adds any extra wires though. I've got the esm at home, I can try to find the pin out for the Canadian model if you tell me your trim level.

connor55 08-05-2012 05:54 PM

Thanks man. Its a 2012 LX. Should be the same wiring as any other non navi bt fit I'm guessing.

There is some sort of blue tooth module in dash underneath the steering wheel. I'm assuming it's some kinda Bluetooth addon that was meant to connect to the stock stereo unit. I can post a pic or find the P/N if that helps.
