2010 sport.

Hi all! I have a total of three snapped posts on my two front wheels (im guessing jiffy lube has also screwed up posts on the back tires too). Big O tires wants to swap out complete hubs and bearings, telling me they can just replace the posts.

From the quick scanning i have done, the repair does look intensive but they can just replace the posts??

That is a lot of broken wheel studs, especially given these are not 5 bolt wheels lol.

Get them repaired ASAP for health and safety purposes. The front wheels which take virtually all the braking, steering, and power forces. This is dangerous.

Tire place is asking almost 1300, for both fronts.... bearings, labor, and 8 new studs. I guess that is just the rate. Bummed that a single stud can cause so much in repairs, seems like it could have been designed better.

The car is not worth much more than that. Call around for better prices or consider DIY if you have good mechanical skills.

i dealt with this last year. theres no quick fix. in order to replace the studs, the hub does in fact need to come out. at that point might as well replace the hubs and bearings.

this is a very time consuming job..and special tools are needed. here is a link to my post (read 2 or 3 posts in) which includes a link to the video that i used as a guide. in my post shows prices of parts in the event you want to try yourself. takes about 2-3 hours per side to do with only hand tools. i had the pleasure of doing my driver side again a few months back because i damaged the bearing after a slight side swiping of a curb, thanks to some ice.

make the original shop who broke them replace em for free.

Makes sense but doubt if they have the know how. Make them pay to have done.

I was at a BJs Wholesale getting new tires put on. Manager comes out states "My guy broke your stud removing the wheel. It will be $$$ to replace it." I'm like you broke it, why am I paying for it? Anyways was replaced free by them. Mechanic was nice enough to not torque my lug nuts so my tires wobbled on the way home. Good thing I noticed or my wheels would have flown off.

Another separate incident. My wheel rear drivers side wheel fell off pulling out of a Pep Boys after getting some work done. I had to walk back to Pep Boys to tell them they effed up. I blamed the mechanic for not torquing the lugs, based on previous experiences. Anyway after getting the car towed back to them, the manager had checked the bay cameras and the mechanic never removed the lugs/wheels. It was most likely my fault since I removed the wheels prior and never torqued the lugs. Since i've been a loyal customer, they comped the stud replacements and labor anyway, even though it was not their fault.
