Question Metra 70-1729 Radio Harness. One site says it does not fit and another says it does?

I have a 2012 Honda Fit w/o Navigation. I need a Radio wiring harness for aftermarket HU. Crutchfield says I need the Metra 70-1729 but on Amazon it tells me that it does not fit my car. It's a heck of a lot cheaper on Amazon. So what harness do I need?

This is what I'm looking at.
Amazon says "this does not fit your 2012 Honda fit:
Amazon Amazon

Crutchfield says "Fits" https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701...g-Harness.html

I'd go with Crutchfield for their tech support and return policy. I've never dealt with Metra products purchased through Amazon, only PAC and they were great to deal with.

Well I have two reasons to believe Crutchfield is right. One is I just installed a Kenwood and that wiring harness is exactly what I used, and two Amazon is in the business of selling lots of things, Crutchfield deals exclusively in all things car audio. You going to install yourself? Few tips I have is use a decent extension to get the single 8mm from underneath the center stack out (move the air recirculate lever over if access is poor) and I used a bigass flatblad screwdriver wrapped in a paper towel and start at the top right, working down. The little white clips the manual asks you to save feel dainty but you need to really crank on them to get them to release from the old radio. I didn't break any of them, they're made from a forgiving plastic. And don't do what I did and put it back together without grounding the parking brake cable sensor, otherwise most of the radio doesn't work and you get to pull it back out all over again. Pic of mine attatched so you can see what you have to work with. I grounded parking brake cable to the screw just behind the fan speed switch.

EDIT: forgot to add I routed the USB input straight down to the cubby underneath the radio, and the mic pickup I haven't gotten around to doing yet but the plan is to sneak it behind the lower trim by the drivers right knee over to the steering column and placing the mic on top of the shroud of the column.

Well I don't want to guess and cause an electrical issue tech support or not. I doubt Crutchfield will pay to have my car fixed if one or more wires in that harness is not in correct position. I just wanted to verify or to find out what harness is correct.

Amazon says it fits my 2010 Fit... so I don't know what's up with the 2012.

I have a DNX995s and popped the mic under the center dash, right next to the cig port. The wire goes in the gap between the bottom of the center dash and the center console, then up through an open area near the OBD port. Before it gets plugged in, it's coiled around itself to tidy up a little.

My unit also has GPS navigation, so I coiled the wire up and tossed the chunky square end up between the center vents under the top dash panel. This makes it also out of view.

Also, you don't have to ground the parking brake sensor to the car... just trim it down and splice it into the black wire of the harness since it's a ground. This way, you only have to deal with connection to radio, primary connection to car harness and the two connections to the antenna... no tools will be needed if you need to unplug it.

I didn't realize at the time I probably should've trimmed down the ground and parking wire... as you can see from the prominently long ground wire with the parking wire vampire'd into it, that was annoyingly long. If I had to re-do it, I'd probably pigtail solder it in also.

In fact, I've used the same harness for three Kenwood units in the Fit (DNX9980HD which developed an issue with too many crash dump logs that trigger a nonstop reboot on startup every once in a while, DNN991HD which developed an issue with the screen, preventing me from being able to use it, and the current DNX995s) and even switching back to the factory radio in-between them. Actually, I also switch back to the 9980 after the 991, since it was "usable" as painful as that reboot issue was. So having the parking wire spliced to the ground wire within the harness saved a little bit of effort.

Actually for Kenwood units, you can ground the parking wire sensor to the head unit chassis.
