OEM Bluetooth module busted- can't find replacement
 

I installed the OEM Handsfreelink Bluetooth phone kit in my 2010 Fit right after I bought the car new and it has worked flawlessly for the past 10 years! Last week it stopped working- first my phone would not pair, and soon after the buttons on the ceiling unit stopped responding to clicks (they still light up). I am fairly sure the Bluetooth control unit went south but the part appears to have been discontinued. The part number printed on the unit is 08E00-E10-1M00-02. I see lots of used OEM Bluetooth control units from Odysseys, Accords, Civics, etc. on eBay- is there any cross compatibility here? I am having zero luck finding the one that actually matches the Fit one..

Wow good catch! I don’t remember the whole kit including that part even reaching $280- but it was 10 years ago. Ouch! Now I’m 50/50 on just using speakerphone..

I just installed a new head unit, one that's android auto compliant. Worth every penny. There's a fair few on Crutchfield for about $300 that'll do the job.

Speaking of aftermarket radios... getting one with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto would add more features too. At least, if you have a phone (and plan) that supports it.

what I enjoy most about the OEM hands free kit is the placement/quality of the microphone- no matter how much I blast the vents inside everyone on the other end can never believe I am calling from the car.

Do any of the stereos with CarPlay factor in quality microphone hardware/arrangements? Or do they rely on the phone to pickup my voice?

Mine came with a positionable mic that I attached to the top of my steering column. I don't use it for phone calls much but it usually does well enough for hands free radio control.

With my aftermarket HU, I put the microphone under the A/C button, just above the cig port. It's pretty out of sight, but I don't think the folks on the other end of the line have issues when I use the HU for phone calls.

That said, the microphone cable might be long enough to stuff it up top by the center rearview mirror, though it'll be more noticeable than the OEM handsfree kit.
