Honda Fit Hatch - Didn't want to close
 

I bought a used 2013 Honda Fit Sport - rebuilt title back towards the end of April 2020, I know there were a lot of posts about the rear hatch not opening with models but I had an issue today where mine would open but wouldn't close unless I pull the latch down (piece where you put your hand to open the hatch) and it appears I can't close it unless I do this now, anyone else have this issue, how was it solved? Thank you in advance!

There's a known issue with the Fit liftgate mechanism where it rusts/corrodes and that leads to the mechanism sticking.The mechanism is accessible through a small plastic removable panel located on the interior liftgate cover.

My guess based off that video: spray some WD40 on the wire, white knob piece that gets stuck, and the metal piece that the white knob slides up and down in.

I sprayed white lithium grease on my '17 and worked it back and forth and it works great now. The VT salt/winter took its toll on mine.
