Air shocks for 2013

Looks like Monroe discontinued rear air shocks for the fit.
Whats the alternative for towing?

The MA809s, but requires a small hub spacer for the air fitting to clear the tire.I did an entire writeup for my GK, but it will be a similar install for the 2nd gen

In your 2017 thread you mention air shocks needed and 200# max tongue weight. I was wondering about tongue weight with orig. Springs and shocks.

Same limits apply. Air shocks simply help carry the load better.

"carry the load better". By increasing capacity, by preventing springs from bottoming out. Is my experience y sing t h em. What do you mean by it?

air shocks do not increase capacity, just helps carry the load better as in the springs not riding on the bump stops. If they were without air shocks, your tongue weight is too heavy.

not sure why I'm having trouble with this!
your saying tongue wt max is 200# with or without air shocks. But without air shocks springs will be on bump stops..
I think max tongue weight without air shocks is an amount where the springs aren't near the bump stops. Which would be below 200#.

Yes max 200lbs tongue weight. Car can only handle a class I hitch. Not saying 200 pounds will weigh the rear to the bump stops, but it will be close. You need air shocks to compensate for that. Either air shocks or air bags inside the springs will do the job. While air shocks/bags are not required, they are highly recommended!
