Wheel/tire combo?? Whatcha reckon?
 

Heyo. So I have a 13' Fit, and I love it dearly. However. Tires are expensive and I live in the sticks where ride height sometimes becomes an issue anyhow. Looking for any info on what (more common) tire and rim setup will give me some height? Also interested in lifting it a bit in addition to the tire and wheel resize. I know thats a little against the grain but I love all the Fits high or low, fast or slow. Thanks in advance fellers and fellets.

What is your current wheel and tire size?

You can't lift your car just by changing wheel/tire sizes as this will throw out your speedometer readings. The overall wheel+tire diameter should be the same if you are on 14" rims or 16" rims. The difference will be tire heaight: on 14" rims, your tire is gonna be beefier, resulting in a more comfortable ride. On 16" rims, tire will have a less height, resulting in a harsher ride, but better handling.

If you want to gain road clearance, you'll have to rise the car otherwise. A guy on here did it. Search for his thread, it should help.

185/55/16 current. Stocks. Love the ride and handling of it as is but wondered what route I could go to maybe get more clearance and a more economic tire. I realise the speedo might be off a few but thats less of a concern.

The previous owner of my car put on 205/55r16s. I found this out when I was getting rubbing while at rallycross practice and went down to a closer-to-stock ratio of 205/50r16. The 205/55 is 0.9" taller, but you do get rubbing on hard bumps.

No rubbing with 205/50/16. You also get more choice for tires. Better handling also. But that won't lift the car of course.

You have some options of running a bit larger profile tire such as 185/60/16 or 195/55/16. Those will increase the ground clearance by .7 and .4 inches respectively.

Your dash speedometer won't change as that is controlled by the speed sensor inside the transmission it does not care what tires you have on or if you have tires on at all.. it will read at a predetermined speed by the rotation of the internals... but your actual speed while traveling will vary.. only by 2-3% depending on the tire size you choose. Running a larger profile sidewall might introduce rubbing as you are increasing the overall diameter of the tire with the larger profiles.

As for lifting the car you have some options of stiffer factory style springs, running spacers, or adjustable coil-overs that can adjust higher than factory spec.
