Farewell to my 2010 Honda Fit Base. The most reliable car I've ever owned.
 

It is a sad day for me today. We sold our 2010 Honda Fit Base. It was the first car we purchased new together, fast forward to just shy of 15 years and with 163k miles.
Original engine. Original transmission. Insane amount of memories.

Easily the most reliable car I've owned to date, right up there with our '18 CRV.
Regular maintenance, no issues, however the signs were starting to show..

The air conditioner stopped working. Multiple trips to multiple independent and Honda dealerships all were unable to figure it out.
An electrical issue meant expensive to repair. No big deal - I just would use it without air conditioning. And I did, and she ran great.

Then came the bucking. Slow at first, subtle. Then increasing. Then on a journey 200+ miles from home it happened - the KICK. If you've ever had a transmission go, you know what I mean. It's a death sentence.
Led to highway driving @ 4K RPM doing 50 MPH in the right lane with my hazards on. I was sure the engine would get roasted, or the transmission. I stopped, turned off, ate some lunch, got back in, and transmission functioned properly again. She got me home, reliable as ever.

With the looming electriclal and transmission issues, the decision was made. The end of almost two decades together.
I planned on keeping her forever. So much fun to drive. So tight on turns. Just a great car.

And it is with that, our journey continues with a 2025 Honda Pilot, but the Fit will always hold a special place in my heart.

Such a nice post. Proof that it's not always high horsepower or grand luxury that makes a great car. Highest on our list was our '92 Mitsubishi Expo LRV 5-Speed mini-minivan, bought new and with us for 17 years and 236,283 miles.

I'd be curious to know more about your issues, but it may be too late for that.

Last night, I saw some (completely unreliable Internet) info about Honda recalls. Something to do with V-6 engines. Let us know how the Pilot does.

Going to start saving soon for a CR-V myself. Sad they aren't making any more Fits in the US, so I guess it is inevitable as ours cars get older the people have to move on.
