Hid's And The 2009 Fit

JUST WONDERING , I HAVE LOOKED AT A NEW 2009 FIT IN PERSON AND IT HAS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS(I HATE THEM ON ANY CAR) BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW, IF IT'S POSSIBLE TO INSTALL A HI/LO HID SET UP LIKE ON MY 2007 SPORT, WITHOUT THROWING ANY CODES ?

I was wondering about this as well. Just for fun I may try and hook a set up I have to see what happens.

non use of DRL's shouldn't trigger any DTC's especially for the USDM fits.

on the 06 civic i had, it was just a yank on the fuse.

Has it been confirmed that the DRLs are the headlights? My 4Runner uses the running lights, not the headlights, for the DRLs.

^ actually... it's the turn signal lights that are used as DRL.

Hid's Part 2

I Have Pulled Out The Bulb For The Fit 09 And Here Is What I've Found
Uses A Hb2 Bulb (two Filiment Bulb) Drl Is Hi-beam (rear Filiment) With Low Voltage
Lo-beam Is Front Filiment With Regular Voltage
Hi-beam Is Rear Filiment With High Voltage

On Some Honda's The Drl Has A Designated Bulb But The 09 Fit Just Uses The Regular Headlight Bulb And Just Limits The Voltage Going To It (lame)

now if someone can figure how to disable it.
then post a DIY for all of us

DRL are ***....

kifu Aug 29, 2008 07:25 AM

Why does everyone hate day time running lights? I just don't get it.

niko3257 Aug 29, 2008 09:58 AM

^^^they just make the car look like crap

Arisenfury Aug 29, 2008 10:06 AM

If it was anything like my 8th gen Civic who used the high beams for DRLs all you have to do is pull fuse #37 and voila. Just check the back of the fuse box to find which fuse goes to the DRL module.

Does the 09's have flash-to-pass lights, where you pull the stalk a bit to flash the brights?

If so, will folks be disabling that for bixenon HID kit installs? Many factory HID vehicles either retain halogen bulbs for the brights or don't offer flash-to-pass because those short strikes are really hard on the capsules.

if someone can pull fuse # 15
we will know for sure if it disables drl.

niko3257 Sep 13, 2008 07:52 PM

I don't see how a pair of 60/55 W bulbs can cause glare during the day when the sun pumps out 3.9 x 10^26 W.

If anything, normal low beam headlights will produce more glare at night.
