That sounds like a decent deal then ..you'll love the way it sounds compared to the stock Fit "meep meep" horn

Has anybody actually replaced their alarm horn in addition to the one in front of the radiator?

I'm doing exactly that tomorrow afternoon after I pick up the high pitch horn that I had to special order from my local stealer.

Some of you may or may not remember that I replaced the horn in front of the radiator (low pitch) with an '08 Accord horn last week. It sounds tons better, but still doesn't quite match the same loud sound as my gf's '08 Accord EX.

I'm hoping that I will achieve both LOUDer results when I actually honk the horn, but also when I engage the alarm remotely.

I'll post results tomorrow afternoon.

It's not like they will both work in tandem, so adding the high pitch horn to the alarm will not make your horn any louder.

If I were to replace the alarm horn, I'd go with another Accord low pitch for the sake of uniformty. I'm just trying to understand your rationale for using the two different horns, or not using the high pitch in front of the radiator to begin with.

I replaced the one in front of the radiator with the Accord low pitch, and though it's not the greatest, for $13.99 total and no additional rewire I'm okay with it, but I'm still on the fence with the alarm horn.

On a related note, I was replacing my front horn last weekend.. Had takn my watch off and stuffed into my pocket with my keys.. Had the horn removed and sitting on the garage floor. bent down to pick up the torx driver, and BEEP BEEP BEEP .. WTF? I'm looking at the horn on the floor..

Somehow I had set off the Panic function on the keyfob (prolly my watch pressing on the button) . I guess the secondary horn is used for that as well... LOL.. Sounded pretty loud in the garage.

BTW I fitted Fiam El Grandes, sound nice. More pain than the accord because of the (included) horn relay. I think I paid $12 thru Amazon.

Peace, out.

I'm sure this is a pretty dumb question, but, as you can see from my username, I am a noob...

How do you get the black plastic cover that goes over the top of the grille back on? I can't get the stupid black bits to go back in. I tried banging on them pretty good, and also using pliers to squeeze the bottom parts and see if I could slide them back in, but it won't go. I'm trying not to break the thing so I don't want to go too crazy.

edit: the black bits that I'm talking about are these things:

Did you put the outer piece in first then the middle piece or did you put both piece in at the same time?

I tried both outer, and middle, and couldn't get any of the black pieces back in. Right now the black plastic piece is sitting in my living room.

I think you have to put the outer ring piece in first, then insert the center piece into the fastener. These 2-piece ones usually work because the shaft of the center piece expands that outer ring so it can't come out. As such, you usually can't put them back in with the two pieces together.

No no no - no need to take the two pieces apart at all. All you need to do is pop the top some and you can easily remove and re-insert them. If they don't go in that simply means you haven't re-aligned the holes correctly and everything isn't flush together.

If you have taken the clips out more than once already, what can happen is that the center pin locks into the little fingers at the top end of the surrounding clip body. After several uses, the little locking fingers at the end lose their ability to stay closed and lock onto the little knob on the end of the center pin. I fixed one of my "tired" clips by fastening a small amount of stainless steel wire around the fingers to hold them in the locked position when I re-inserted the pin, and it worked. But I had the wire, small pliers, etc. on hand already.

You can buy a new set of 10 bumper clips from an eBay vendor for $10.00. I did that, because I intended to remove my bumper several more times and know that I would have more "tired" clips to deal with. You can probably go to your local Honda dealer and buy some more clips at some outrageous price. One guy messed up or lost one of the clips that hold the center console to the floor at the front end, and his Honda dealer charged him $5.00 each for the clip.

Oops, thanks for the correction. As you can tell, I haven't done my horn install yet. These apparently work differently than the 2-piece fasteners on some of my other cars.

OK, I didn't realize that if you push down the plastic ring it closes it up so that it can slide right in. That did the trick. Thanks guys!

$20 and you think that's bad?

Vancouver Honda quoted me $55 for the horn. Westwood Honda quoted me $65 for the horn!

I laughed, hung up and ordered it from Bernardi. I ordered 2 horns and after shipping it's about $17/horn which is fine by me.

Has anyone done anything different with the horn, such as...

YouTube - Honda Accord with air horn

Not that I would do that to my Fit, but what about a musical horn or something? And did we get an answer on the GD3 horn swap? Is it possible without taking off the front bumper? I do not want to do that job myself, but the horn is really really stupid.

OK, I admit I didn't quite "get" this thread before. Today, I drove an AT Sport w/ Navi. When I was done, I hit the lock button on the remote. Wow, that was a non-sound.

Seriously, that was weak...

That's a different horn than the regular horn. The Fit has 2 horns, a security one and the regular one (my terminology). The Regular stock horn isn't much better though.

It would be cool to have a "nice" horn, for getting ppl to pay attention, and a more aggressive one for more serious occasions.

Wow. I still so want one. I'm pretty mad right now that there's not a Fit in my driveway. But if that was not the horn sound, I'm a bit worried....
