Ward's Best Interior for Economy Car

Linky: Ward?s Auto announces 2009 Interior of the Year winners - MotorAuthority - Car news, reviews, spy shots

"For 2009, the awards were not dominated by luxury car brands that like to swathe their interiors in leather and wood as you might think - rather than that it was the cheaper end of the spectrum that impressed the judges most. For example, taking out the top prize for an economy-priced car was the Honda Fit Sport, which managed to capture the judges' attention thanks to its high-quality feel and clever design."

Nice find!

Great find!

Upon reading the title, I quickly thought of Audi and VW to capture some awards. They have impressive interior design and finish for the money.

Another YAY for our Fit, though.

... they didn't realize it was missing the outside temp guage and the tach located in the wrong location of the cluster, but that's ok. :D

I can't say I ever really had a need for a outside temp gauge. I know if it is hot or cold before I get into the car. :)

And what is wrong with the tach location? It is in the same spot as my last couple of cars.

Good job! It still cracks me up that it's an "economy priced car". Because it just doesn't have the look OR feel of what used to be an economy priced car. Although this is pretty snazzy:

x2 nothing wrong with the tach, but the temp gauge I miss, I DO look at mine.

And I miss the low windshield washing fluid light. Yeah, this is trivial which is why I am not really complaining about it. But I use my wash a lot so it was nice to know I was running out rather than find out when it is empty.

I find the OAT (Outside Air Temperature) gauge very useful especially in winter to mind me when to exercise caution for possible black ice. ;)

Maybe not the best place for this, but can we get a sticky specifically and only for links to awards/reviews of the Fit (perhaps broken out by generation)? There are an awful lot of them across the various publications and review sites. I try to bookmark these when I come across them, but a general sticky that accumulated them would make things easier.

I still think this is a good idea. I proposed it awhile ago in this thread:

The only car I've ever had one of these in was an Audi TT. I've owned many hondas (albet older than 2003 prior to the 09 Fit), and they never included a low washer fluid light. It was always one of those things that sometimes went dry for days because I'd forget to fill it. :D

My 2000 Mercury Cougar had it which is why I miss it. Of course I am sure Ford felt the addition of that light more than made up for the piss poor quality of the car. Consider it like a $4000 option.

An accurate Outside Air Temperature gauge is very nice for that. You wouldn't think it would matter in Texas but it does because we get spells of cold weather and since there's no salt trucks, it is helpful to have an idea whether ice formations are possible on overpasses. But it is a subcompact car, so it is what it is.

That's what I thought the news section was for. But when I tried to post there, it said it had to be approved or something. I don't think it was ever posted.

Seems like the Front Page News section would be perfect for any Fit-related news articles we find.
