DIY'ers in SOCAL!
is there some regulation in socal prohibiting the ability to change your own oil outdoors?
for example, i live in a group of apartments n wanna change my oil without catching crap from the cops parked at the end of the parking lot watching... i have everything i need, and everything needed to prevent or catch a spill. i will even dispose of the oil at the nearby recycle facility afterward. anyone? anything? |
THe apartment itself will prohibit you from doing it. If you lived in a house, you would be able to, but apts are private property that you lease out of and you have rules set by them :( I know of some that wont even let you wash your car.

yea, the owners dont care about personal vehicle management too much. unless ur like my neighbor and bring ur motorcylce to your front door inside the gate to work on it :P
|
A simple oil change will probably go unnoticed...apartment complexes just don't want people tearing their cars apart leaving eye sores/clunkers for weeks on end. Check your lease agreement...or just consider if management is on site to give you greif if you are spotted ;) All depends on how anal management is...

Here in the City of L.A., you can't work on your car in the street, that includes oil changes. Check your local city ordinances to be 100% sure.
Your apartment complex may have certain rules they have set, so check your lease agreement. myke |
