Body Kit Doesn't Match?!?
I have a 2010 Fit Sport in milano red on hold at the dealership. I noticed as I was leaving the dealership that the body kit isn't quite the same color red as the car. Has anyone else had trouble with this? If I want the red, do I have to suck it up and deal with it, or would it be helpful to request a different car?

Its actually very common for there to be a slight discoloration between the bumpers of a vehicle and the paint on the rest of the car. The reason for it, is they add a polymer (correct me if i'm wrong) to the paint for the bumper, so in the event of a low speed accident, the paint will not get damaged.
Here are some pictures of the front bumper of my 91 accord, it "kissed" a saturn vue at less then 5mph. These pictures are a perfect example of paint without that "polymer" in it to make it flexible: Attachment 52856 Attachment 52857 Attachment 52858 Attachment 52859 |
yea its normal and more noticeable on brighter colored cars. My silver si bumpers were noticeably darker silver than the rest of the body.

Even though it's just the body kit, not the bumpers? It's on the side panels also, but not noticeable on the air foil.

I wonder if the lip is painted separate from the bumper??

My GD3 is an exact match as far as the paint. When Honda had to repaint the lip to take care of the peeling paint at the joint - they did a great job and it matched perfectly.
