Windshield looked cracked, but isn't!

The other night, I came out to the car and got in and was HORRIFIED to see what looked like crack lines all over the windshield. I figured a quick scraping of frost and they'd be gone. I was again horrified to see it was NOT helping. OMG, I flipped. I got in and noticed it was the INSIDE that frosted over in this pattern. A finger nail proved they just scraped off. Once the defrost took over, they disappeared. When the windshield fogs up now, these lines start to reappear again. Duh...clean the thing, I know. But this pattern- I just can't figure how it happened in the first place. I'll take a pic of it if I can. Looks like a lightening bolt of crack lines all over the windshield. Freaky. Anyone else ever get this?

I've had that happen many times in various cars. If it's particularly cold outside and the interior of the car is humid, say from snow on your feet or from the A/C running while in defrost, then you will get frost on the inside of the windshield and windows. If you don't have a heated garage, one way to dry the car out is to drive around for a while with the heat on high aimed at the floor. When your drive is over, leave the doors or windows wide open to let the humidity escape until the interior chills.

Yikes! You should sue mother nature for practically giving you a heart attack! :D

Mine develops one single crack-looking line almost dead center of my driving view, but after nearly dying the first time I saw it, I'm fine.

Yeah, I realize it's a stupid thing to even bring up. I mean, it's frost for cripes sake! LOL! But if you ever get that cracked look, you'll know- it's more than freaky. Gets you wondering if there's a defect.
