Does the battery require a special charger or anything weird like sacrificial rituals involving salamanders, virgins or square dancing to hip hop music?... It's just sooo teensy.

Much better! The original one was half the size of the engine.
Coyote - I hear that the only thing that is occasionally required with these is the salamaders. They can be had for cheap locally, but JDM ones work best imo. If you run out, you can always just find a blind person to help you out. |

The images and videos are a walk through from unpacking to install to starting... rituals (I did cross my fingers tho when I was about to fire it the first time hehe) The B14115 has way better specs/more juice than stock regardless of size. what is the lifetime of the battery?

I had one of these in carbon in my old DC5R and it didn't last very long, I think about 14~15 months total combined useage between the Integra and the S2000 in Guam. It just would not keep a charge whatsoever and failed to even take a charge. Basically it failed due to sulfation. Which was most likely caused when the car (DC5R) was in impound for 4.5 months and I was unable to even go and start it up. I still have the battery today collecting dust, every now and then I will pull it out and try to charge it just hoping it will, but it doesn't. :D
Good luck with yours and even with my bad luck, I still would give the brand another go because I don't believe it was a battery fault, the sitting for 4.5 months killed the battery. |
My stock battery is on it's 49th month.... My car sits for weeks at a time without being driven as well as our truck that sits for months at a time..... I periodically hook the batteries on a charger that is constantly changing the voltage rates at low amperage and breaks down the sulfation buildup on the plates...At times I will have an ancient Curandera burn incense and recite an incantation in the barn to insure a strong charge..... She's family so I get a discounted rate on her services.

Yeah the charger I have has an AGM mode on it. ;) Just don't let it sit for long periods of time and by long I mean no more than a week without starting the car and letting it run a bit. Short trips will hurt the battery as well; especially if constantly doing short trips.

From Braille's website, the B14115 does not have a "4 cylinder recommended usage" for daily driving (under the applications tab when you look at the battery info), but Jegs does recommend it. Which makes me wonder... is this too small? Or are they (Braille) being conservative? On Braille's website, the heavier batteries DO have daily driving as a recommended usage for 4-cyl. |
If you are lugging around stereo gear, I would not recommend this 11.5lb model. The 15lb would be more in tune, but even then depending on how much amperage your system is pushing, you may want to go even 1 step higher.
For me the battery was great when the car was actually being used, my Integra was pretty much fully gutted and essentially a race car as a daily driver, though I did have a headunit and front component speakers that were not so audible when the car was being pushed. :D |

i would suggest making/buying a cradle for the battery. i dont trust it just sitting there. here is mine. aluminum sheet metal, bolts to secure it to the plate and a piece of rubber so the battery sits flush over the bolt heads.

^^^ forgot to mention, thanx... yes, this is a temp install and will do a proper holder. Interestingly as it stands today... it's not budging or going nowhere, won't even wiggle as it sits on a hi temp rubber mat :)

oh and btw, my spoon battery is 2.5 lbs lighter =P

you can buy a DEKA battey for about 68$shipped and same as braille they just relabel it...its pretty popular in evo community...i have it in my fit
