False Car Alarm

I went into a store to rent a movie, and while I was standing there, the car alarm went off. I had locked the car like usual pushing the lock button until the horn sounded. I am standing there waiting my turn at the redbox when the alarm went off. Took me a minute to recognize that it was my car, but I pushed the lock button again and it stopped. There were no lights on in the car and no one anywhere near the car. The alarm went off about the time the Garmin usually shuts off about 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

I checked the car and all the doors were still shut tight, when I started the car none of the doors were indicated as open.

Has anyone else had anything similar happen, didn't see anything in a search for alarm.

Thanks,

I know this from experience. It is very possible that someone may have been within ~100' from your car and used a two way or CB radio. That will trigger them too sometimes. I used to do it when driving to work just to wake up and mess with my good friend/neighbor. All I would have to do was key the mic.

He stopped using the alarm

:wavey: Good morning Mark!

But as recessed as the panic button is it is unlikely, and the key was in my pocket with nothing else in it.
