Whispbar roof rack and Thule Ascent 1500 cargo box
Installed just today. Thought some of you would appreciate a few photos:
https://picasaweb.google.com/cdjewell/WhispbarAndThule Got the rack from Rack Attack (via Amazon) for $399. With a 20% REI coupon, the cargo box was $369.49. Whispbar's instructions specify a bar spread of 60 cm. I pushed it out to 74 cm as Thule recommends the wider the better. This is my first roof rack/cargo box setup so I have nothing to compare it to, but driving to REI with just the rack on, the Whispbar lived up to the hype as I didn't hear a thing with the windows up and AC on and going 50 mph. |
Looks sharp.
Eventually considering a purchase like this. After you've actually owned and used it for an appreciable period, update us with impressions. I've read a lot of threads where people have had trouble finding a good set up. |
what do you plan on putting in the box?

Will definitely update this post in the future. Might not be until September that I take it on a long trip.
It was a shopping trip to Costco that convinced me to buy a cargo box. Wife + baby seat + mother-in-law + stroller doesn't leave much room for anything else. |
Thanks... been searching and searching through the forums for any info re: racks. Nerd-ing out on brand differences, cost, fit, profile and most importantly noise.
