What light-weight wheels would look good? 2010-Insight

Hello Everyone, New member here from Orange County.:wavey: I actually don't own a Fit, but a 2010 Honda Insight. Unfortunately the Insight forum isn't as active in tech. or modifications so I merged to this forum instead. I've been planning to modify my Insight appearance wise for quite some time.

My goal is to lower the stance using coils. and finding a proper lightweight wheel combo to heighten the appearance of my car. I've looked @ numerous styles of wheels and haven't quite found that "one" that could really make my car stand out. I really enjoy bronze/gold in color. Open to opinions though.

This is just an outreach to gauge your opinions on what wheels might look good on my Insight? Obviously they'll need to be lightweight so I can utilize my Eco gas saving'ness haha.

Please don't bash, and direct me elsewhere if I posted in the wrong section. It's been a while since I have posted on a Forum.

My Insight is Spectrum Pearl White. So far have O.E Honda Wind deflectors, removed the front plate, and tinted the windows....

From my understanding the Fit and Insight share a lot of similiar components... I know the mirrors, rear frame section are identical.

Anyone know what these ^ wheels are? I know it's a older Insight but they look amazing from the photo.

hello fellow o.c member. =D.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you looking to spend? I like the SSR Type Fs quite a bit, but they're far too expensive :(. I believe they're around $400+ each, but they only weigh 11 pounds in 16x6.5 size.

Rpf01s are super light. and you can be pretty sure no one has put them on a ze2 lol.

This is actually pretty interesting, the insight that is. my cousin has an insight and has always toyed around with the idea of modding it. a number of companies make stuff for them. slips would look good too. OR, since you are SpoonInsight, maybe you could get the real spoons lol

Go to the Tire Rack site so you can see how different wheels look on your car.

Don't know what those rims are, but they remind me of the ADVAN RZ:

Assuming price isn't an issue, you can try:

Mugen Mf8's, Mf10s
Work Emotion 11R (Doesn't come in 16" or lower)
Advan RG I, II (I's are hard to get a hold of because discontinued)
Volks CE28, TE37 ( I like the CE28s)
SSRs Type C's, F's

All bronze and light-weighted wheels.

Ray's and SSR have ecolines.

I believe the RE30's from Volk Racing would look great, but they're a pricey wheel.

Ok, some more realistic sized wheels:

Enkie J-speed III 4Hx100 @ 16x7.5 et 38, 16x7.5 et 38 Tires 195/50 $1600

BLACK OZ ALLEGGERITA'S 14.2 LBS 17x7+37
$850

Rare minty 17" 3pc Racing Hart M5 wheels $750 (no center caps). These are not that light, but they are super sweet!

Rotiform BLQ 17x8 ET20 57.1CB machined finish $850 Once again, not super light, but awesome. Would def require some rolled and pulled fenders to clear the +20 offset. You could be the first Insight fitted.

Tenzo R DC 5's 17x7 4x114.3 brand new in boxes $850

Advan RG1 in white 16x7 4x100 $1300 w/out tires. These are the lightest of all I posted.

Hello everyone! Thank you for the posts, you guys are extremely helpful in my direction, being a long wolf on the Hybrid modding side, it's difficult to find parts. I feel like the Insight is a really great platform for proper stance and appearence, since the CRZ came out, I feel like vendors dropped the Insight line for aftermarket parts... sorta sucks.

Being that my point in purchasing this car from my old stage 3 STI was to get more bang out of my buck @ the pumps :) and it's been working!

I have had my eye on RPF01's but whish the size I wanted was available in Gold... they only have Silver..... which isn't really what I was looking for.

I love SSR's and Volks, and think they'd look amazing on my car, just have to narrow down the style's that would look proper, and not too aggressive. I just want the flush look, but still practical if I hit the highway for a weekend vaca.

Go to tirerack.com andcheck the wheels in 14" and 15" sizes with 4x100 mm bolt circle and 5 to 6" widths. Part of the wheel descriptions is a weight for the wheel. Pick the ones you think 'look' best for the least weight. What looks best to you is your choice. We don't care about looks, only weight counts.
We service an Insight gen 1 here and the standard 14x5.5 wheel is 10.8 pounds. The only wheels we could economically accomodate for 'our' Insight was the 9.3 lb Kosei RFP-1 wheels and fitted with 165/65x14 Mich tires.
Must work great, he gets 50+ mpg all the time even when we 'race' to the track.
If you can find good used Insight gen 1 wheels 5.5x14,they are the potentially least costly light wheels.

Thank you for your "Insight" no pun intended lol.

I'd go for the rays re30 eco, it just looks so damn sweet ;)

I really like the Spoon CR93's that they placed on their first "tuned" CRZ. But the only fitment availble is 5 lug. and they come in blue, black/chrome, or yellow/light-gold.... :(

Im looking into the slips or the RE30's eco wheelsets. Trying to located a reliable and cost efficent dealer.

I should have my coil overs on within a few weeks tops. Just waiting for them to arrive :)

SpoonInsight 07-08-2011 09:55 AM

eh, spoon sw's are cool, but all the fake Rota slips out there make it hard to drop that kind of Money on those wheels. Most peeps will assume their Rotas you know haha. I'll prolly shoot for CR93's and run adapters,or the Rays... I really have had my eye's set on Enkei RP's but the fitment and size I want only comes in "gold" in Japan :( they only have black or silver here... I might get them powder-coated a custom gold flake color like my old STI bbs'
