stock sport tire rubbing!

So my fit is lowered and rear spaced out. It is rubbing alot in the rear and will probably need new tires before they blow. Is there any recommendation for stock sport rim with a tire with less bulge on the sidewall?

The rear is only rubbing on one side and it don't think I can roll the fender anymore.

what size tire do you have? when you say "spaced out" do you mean you have spacers between the hub and wheel? if so how thick is it?

Hootie 08-09-2011 01:13 AM

^^ That and a few more questions...

What year/chassis generation Fit do you have?

What is your wheel's width and offset in addition to the spacer size you used if it isn't the stock Sport wheel?

What did you lower with? Lowering springs, coil overs, cut springs etc.

Are your fenders already rolled?

2nd gen, stock rim/tire, coilover, slightly rolled.

So what tire do you recommend? I want something with a little stretch on stock sport rim.

pics would help

vythai 08-09-2011 03:24 AM

You want to see a pic of the stock rim/tire?

Want to see the rubbage if you will. How many MM spacers on the rear?

Fitnoy78 08-09-2011 03:39 AM

If you are using wheel spacers, take e'm off. Then you should be fine. Are on buddy club n+?

You still haven't answered whether you have spacers or not. Post pics and answer the questions. Any reason to be secretive?

kenchan 08-09-2011 11:55 AM

stock sport wheels are wat 6" width? you're going to need to buy something with 165 or 175 width to have a slight stretch i think. honestly i think it will look pretty wired being super narrow like that and pushed out.

i suggest you get 16x7 wheels and get maybe 185 tires mounted.

Where are u rubbing? sidewall? If so.. remove spacer. fixed..

kenchan 08-09-2011 12:48 PM

Good one. :rotfl:

Yea I like my spacers. I just got done hammering away at the fender. It has a slight pull now. I will probably get 195/50/16 once it starts leaking air. Cant find a good 165 or 175 anywhere.

kevinkidstar138 08-09-2011 02:49 PM

must be a big ass spacer, considering people dropped on buddyclubs can rock 7" and +40 offsets in the rear and not rub with a minor roll

Considering that it rubs with 185mm width, I don't think that going to 195mm being wider is a good idea.

Still wondering about the thickness of your spacers...

Edited to add:
I see that you intend to continue to run with a damaged tire until it "starts leaking air". With that general attitude and the fact that you're modding your car without knowing the outcome, I think it's unsafe and unfair for the other drivers on the road around you. Take your car to a reputable service place and get them to put it back to a safe condition.

As others mentioned, how thick is that spacer? I'd guess it'd have to be huge to cause rubbing with the stock setup.

Well said. To be quoted again and again. All the parts need to fit together.

^^ agreed

if you want to hella flush your car, your doing it wrong

if you plan on putting on spacers to your stock wheels and trying to get it not to rub... i sugguest you change wheels completely or really just set your coil overs to not be that low...

but then again without picks hard to say whats going on
