Another F'ing recall

Honda Recalls Another 960,000 Cars Over Defects - ABC News

Good grief.

I noticed this in the article...

"The carmaker is still reeling from a Consumer Reports story last month knocking its top-selling Civic. The headline stated: ”2012 Honda Civic LX: Scores too low for Consumer Reports to recommend.” The magazine cited cheap interior finishes and lack of features that other cars in its class offer."

I also have that copy of Consumer Reports where they tested the Civic.

Strikes me they were looking for issues for some reason as one of their
comments was about the lack of a trunk lid liner... claiming that it would
be hard to grab the inside of the trunk lid without a liner.

Who grabs the inside of a trunk lid? ...unless you happen to be inside the
trunk with the lid shut and you are navigating in the dark to find a way out.

Ah well, at least Honda are owning up to and fixing some issues.

"The recall covers Fit vehicles produced in Japan from October 2005 to October 2009. The cars were shipped to China and other Asian countries."

So I take it this doesn't affect cars in the US? Fine with me, dodged 2 recalls so far :)

If it's a master switch in the door, isn't that likely to be a fifteen-minute (including grabbing a coffee) fix?

Sounds like the same recall we had last year or so but it seems like just for the cars that went to China and Asia. Honda has had their fair share!

What doesn't make sense is that it is 2005 through 2009... Really? They had the same problem on two generations of the same model?

Something doesn't seem right here.

Honda Motor Co. said today it is recalling more than 960,000 Fit subcompacts and other models to fix defects including software and electrical problems.
It's not just one thing.

CR sometimes seems to get PO'd at a maker for some reason, and just nit piks them to death

So wait, what I heard on the news and all- this doesn't apply to our U.S. Fits?

Notice the first two words. "The Recall" (Singular) which means that this one recall covers fits produced through 2009. Unless ABC News lets errors like this through.

Either that or Honda is issuing multiple fixes that are completely unrelated under one recall? That could be worse. Hmmm let's recall the window switch and the transmission under one recall.

This is the only thing official for the US so far (CR-V and CR-Zs)...

yes, it's one recall, but no one says they can't use one recall to handle multiple issues.
