Led dome light wiring help needed
 
Hey there...i have a honda jazz/fit 2009 model...i have already hooked up illuminated sill plates to the dome light wire uwimg wire splices.....i want to install led lights as interiors lights in the car using dome light....like it glows when i open d car....will there be any problem if i use more wire splices and attach the leds to the dome light where already sill plates are connected....
Will there be any problem????
As m totally noob in fuses and all...plz use simple language:vtec::hyper::(

As long as the LEDs have proper current limiting resistors either built in, added by the maker as a package, or ones that you add, it should be OK. LEDs use almost no current (20mA) compared to the incandescent (wire filament) dome light (probably a couple thousand mA). If the dome light fuse blows you'll know you did something wrong. Don't put a higher amperage fuse in there.

If you're not sure, consult a friendly electronics geek. It's not complicated. Here's a good website. I've linked a resistor calculator but they have several different calculators (the series/parallel calculator is probably more useful) and other information.

Keep in mind your car is 12V. LEDs need about 3V. If there is nothing limiting current (a resistor) the LED will burn out (probably with a nice pop). LEDs they sell as automotive accessories probably have resistors already built in, but you need to be sure.

Post some pics of your illuminated door sills. Which ones did you get?
