Getting the Blizzaks Installed(good price?)

did some shopping around and believe it or not the dealership gave me the best price on snow tires(bridgestone blizzaks ws60)

itll end up being $640 plus sales tax. this includes everything(mounting, balancing, programming TPMS)

after calling around it seems to be the best price around...

whats prices have you guys seen?

Blackbeard 10-31-2011 07:21 PM

Well...

Like sex...size does matter...what size are you shopping in...

For 185/55R16 Tirerack has Set of 4: $468.00, but then you have to add shipping...and the mounting balancing and TPMS valve kit for each tire is about $40 or $160. Don't remember the shipping, but it has to be more than $20. Are you putting these on the original wheels and re-using your TPMS sensors? What size are you looking at?

micven55 10-31-2011 07:24 PM

I have a set coming from Tire Rack, 185/70/14 General Artic Altimax, steel wheels, wheel covers and tire pressure sensor, with shipping it all came to $680.

cardinal 10-31-2011 07:42 PM

In 9/09 I bought a 175/65r15 Blizzak ws60 tire and wheel package for my '09 sport from Tire Rack.

Cost including shipping was $697. Deduct $75. for a debit card rebate. Comes to $622.

And I'm happy with the tires. I don't use tpms with the snows.

nickemangione 10-31-2011 07:51 PM

I will be using the stock wheels so the size of the tire will be 185/55/r16. I will be using my stock TPMS sensors. Mavis discount tire(discount tire shop here in Albany) wanted exactly the same $640 and I much rather go to the dealer ship where if they chip a wheel I have a better chance of them working with me.

specboy 10-31-2011 08:00 PM

last winter I got 4 General Altimax Arctic 185/65/15 tires mounted on a set of Craigslist's finest Integra LS Mesh Alloys. I got the tires from Sears and they mounted/balanced them for me. Cost of the tires was under $400 and the wheels ended up being $50 Plus trade of a Civic Strut Tower Brace that we had from the old civic. Can't remember to final cost but I think it was around $425-$450.

That Said, My tires went on this weekend and I get to ride for he next 5 months with the TPMS light on.

The blizzaks are on the original sport wheels without the TPMS sensors...will use a piece of electrical tape over the light as suggested...
:o

Just curious....why does the TPMS need to be programmed if you're using the stock wheels?

It shouldn't. If using the OE wheels, the only cost should be the tires as if you buy from most tire dealers, they'll mount/balance for Free.

I'm considering the Black Tape thing... do we have a DIY on this mod?

I honestly don't know if he said that needed to be done but I decided to throw it in there lol. I guess when I think about it they shouldn't need to be reprogrammed. :)

So does the $640 seem fair? I went to tirerack and with shipping the tires would end up costing $137 each which is exactly what the dealer quoted me...

specboy 10-31-2011 09:32 PM

$640 seems High. Tirerack has them as stated above for $515 shipped to my door. here, the local places will mount/balance for $12-$15/wheel so that's a max total of $575 for those tires. You could save yourself $65 just by ordering them off of tirerack. if you order different tires from discounttiredirect.com, you'd be around $440-$460 Shipped (after $40 visa gift Card) for the tires (If you order tonight). I had the Hankook winter iPike W409 tires on my altima and they were great here in VT winters. The General Altimax tires I have now are an almost Identical Tread Pattern (which is similar to the nokian hakkapelitta.)

blizzak price

Bridgestone Blizzak WS60

This is what shows up for me. Shipping will vary, but to WNC IT'S ~$50. So, around $415------a lot cheaper than the dealer cost, even if you have to pay for mounting and balancing. Seems like that shouldn't be over $100 total.

That looks to be for the 14" wheels. for the 16" wheels it's $117 each which will put it around $500-$515 shipped. Still a better deal than $640

yup but then you have to factor in installation which is probably $20 each.

that will place me at roughly $595

i think ill stick with the dealer...they've treated me extremely well in the past and im a loyal customer. i own a small business and i realize that convenience is worth a lot and it this case its worth the $45.

thanks for the help everyone!http://serve.mysmiley.net/characters/character0195.gif

No problem. Glad to hear you have a Decent Dealer. we've got one here too and it's been so nice to not have to hunt around for certain things. (doesn't mean I still don't do it) :) Let us know how the Blizzaks feel. I feel like I'm on Jello going from the 16" to the 15" with snows.

oh... also see if you get lifetime rotation with the puchase of a set of tires. that's what we get from our local tire places here. Lifetime rotation every 6K miles.
