New 2011 Fit Sport
 

My mechanic suggested a few weeks ago that it was time to retire my 1998 Subaru Forester (MT) --- sigh. I am now the proud owner of a new 2011 Alabaster Silver Fit Sport MT, and I am so happy with it!

The gas mileage is better than I expected. The gauge in the car is showing 30 MPG in absolutely brutal downtown Atlanta driving --- with stop lights/signs every 1000 feet (I counted them), congestion, hills, speed bumps, and pedestrians. My calculated mileage on my first tank, with 50/50 city/highway driving was 36.9 MPG. Woohoo!

The cargo space is on a par with the Forester.

And did I mention that this car is a blast to drive?

Thank you to everyone on this forum for all the great discussions and tips. The information here was a huge help in my decision to get a Fit.

I drove a 1995 Subaru Wagon before I got my Fit-- have been very pleased with the gas mpg & storage capacity on this lil car. :)

@afreespirit -- You are going to *love* your new Fit! It's an awesome car! I thought about getting a 2012, but I couldn't find any MT Sports in stock and I either had to repair the Subaru or get a new car immediately. I would have had to wait several weeks for a 2012 .... and the 2011 saved me a few dollars, too. I can't wait to hear your reaction when your new Fit arrives.

@sooznd -- It broke my heart to part with my Subaru, a faithful companion for so many years. I am lovin' the Fit, though. Initially, I was worried about moving to an economy car, but I really don't feel like I have lost anything to speak of. (Okay, I *really* miss the outside temperature gauge and the engine temperature gauge, but, hey, that's what an Ultragauge is for. ) On the plus side, I am loving the handling and the gas mileage and the reliability.

Congrat's!!! You will love the Fit's handling, utility, and incredible reliability.

@GaFit -- Thanks so much!! I have been enjoying your posts. You live in truly great driving territory. I can't wait to take the Fit up that way soon. (I was born in Gainesville, GA, btw.)

I gave my old Subie to my son so it isn't totally gone from my life & I borrow it every once in a while to haul stuff when I do not want to get the Fit dirty.
I do miss the sunroof & the leather interior, though!

You should try flying over speedbumps and pedestrians!!:)

When we first moved here I road motorcycles a lot and picked the area based on that. Now that we have a one year old (I'm late to have kids) I don't ride much, but still love the roads. The Fit comes really close to the fun of a motorcycle and I can actually get through some sections faster with it than I can my sportbike. The HUGE plus is getting to hear my little boy go "weeeeee" :)

@sooznd -- I know it's silly, but I am really hoping that my Subie found a good home.

@DennisCTC --- Oh how I wish I could fly over speed bumps and pedestrians. :)

@GaFit --- you make me want to head up to the mountains right now. As soon as I get a break from work and get a little more comfortable with the Fit, I will take it on a N. Ga outing.
