New Wheel Suggestions?

I'm thinking of new wheels + lower when the spring comes around (trying to go legit but not overboard :) ) and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions...

Here's what I'm looking for:

Color=polish, bronze, white (in that order)
Size=17x7 or 17x7.5 (maybe 17x8 in the rear)
Offset=30-38
Budget=$1,000-2,000

Some things that caught my eye:

Weds: Probably not worth trying to pull off on my budget but beautiful. I could afford the wheels but it would take some serious work to fit these monsters w/ the right offset under the car. (They look terrible w/o the right width/offset.)

RPF1's: Unfortunatley SBC color is special order of 10 sets or more :(

Work CR Kai Emotion: Really digging these in all colors (my favorites so far)

I'm open to anything else you think would fit the bill...

mkane 11-08-2012 10:40 PM

Work Emotion 11r in bronze will be our second set.

lowkeymods 11-08-2012 10:47 PM

11r's are nice, but I think I'll stick w/ just one set of $1,500+ wheels :)

hayden 11-08-2012 11:27 PM

I'm just going to say it: the CR Kai is probably the best looking common wheel on the GE. People flocked to them a few years ago, until they were "played." There was a reason people liked them. They are definitely on my list of wheels to consider when the time comes, despite the popularity. Hell, I'd even rock some slips, the only other wheel that is a contender for the top spot in my opinion (or the spoon equivalent, of course.) Both totally played, but for a reason. They aren't hipster-played like RSes though, so that's good. ;)

kenchan 11-08-2012 11:38 PM

i like those feathers you already got better on the Fit... good looks and functional. no sense making your foot work heavier especially on an underpowered and under braked car.

lowkeymods 11-09-2012 12:05 AM

hmmmm....I like them too for what they are. They're great wheels for the money, but I want to upgrade the looks/form/quality of the car too.

I love all those wheels, but it's going to look very different with the sizing you are aiming for. For example, the RPF1's in a 17x7 or 7.5 is going to have a convex face. The RSX with the RPF1's has a concave face. I don't know wheels very well, but I think convex faced RPF1's start when the width of the wheel is x9. The RSX is probably a 17x9.

Here's a GD3 Fit with SBC RPF1's in a convex face for visual reference:

How does that GD even turn?

Back to topic - I don't know how common RPF1s are in the US but they're my choice out of the options. CR-Kais don't do anything for me aesthetically and they got so played out on my shores.

Might I suggest the RPF1 Type II?

Another great option. Buy 3 get one free.

Just buy Jango's NT-03's

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...set-4-a-2.html

Good deal, extra money for cool lugnuts and tires.

+1 Awesome wheels and great deal. Tried to convince the GF to part with her 2012 sport rims + $$$ for these but she likes her Konig Lace's better :o

I agree. I have always loved these. Also, the wheels on the blue fit in the op has Racing Hart CP035s. One of my favorite wheels of all time.

Here is my suggestion:
Modena Racing 4Hx100 @ 17x8 et 26, 17x8 et 45 $1200.

I disagree with all the recommendations in this thread.

If going used, Volk SE37k.
If going new depending on look going for:

VIP:

One of these
Kranze WHEELS INDEX?weds CO., LTD.

Not-VIP
Work XT7
SSR Type F
Advan RS/RZ

Was going to suggest these but I think it's over budget from what i've shopped. I guess if you could find used ;)

I do think those would look the best, would keep current style (which I like) but make it even better/more legit.

Wheels are very subjective. I tend to like most of the old school stuff - hence my suggestion. However, I really like VIP style. If it was me, I would be going here:
Kranze Bazreia in a 16" or 17".

17x8 lowdisk +25ish in the back
17x8 lowdisk +35ish in the front, maybe a spacer if necessary to clear the calipers....FAP.

Thanks for the great feedback guys! Without this forum my car would look like s#@t! I really wanted to see what options were out there. You guys have been really helpful with that….so don’t take this feedback the wrong way:

Work 11r-Best option so far next to the CR Kai Emotions

NT-03-Nice, but look very strange in high offset (like what’s being sold)

Racing Hart CP035-Out of range for the budget

Volk SE37k-Beautiful but too busy for the $

VIP Weds-Amazing, debating if I want to go VIP. It seems like I would need to do an overhaul of the exterior.

Work XT7/Advan RS/RZ/ SSR Type F-Beautiful but too many spokes/I don’t like them more than the CR Kai Emotions for the $

White 5-spoke Compomotive-Not my style

Basically I’m a big fan of 5 spoke-ish designs. I’m currently also looking into PF01s as well. There’s not much of a scene in Baltimore nor am I a part of whatever does exist ,so “played out” doesn’t much matter to me. ..so keep those thoughts in mind and the suggestions coming!

Thanks again guys!

mike410b 11-09-2012 10:54 PM

CR Kai are rather ugly in high offset brotato.

Same goes for PF01, well, PF01 always kinda suck.

V-fit 11-09-2012 10:59 PM

Work Meister S1???

Type 100 11-09-2012 11:27 PM

Weds Kranze Vishunu @ 17?

http://kranze.jp/images/gallery_kran...hunu1716_1.jpg

"Vishunu" seems like a Japanese mistransliteration of "Vishnu" though.

mike410b 11-09-2012 11:32 PM

Would be crazy on a low Fit with the right touches!

Weds Kranze line is the master of cool wheels.

lowkeymods 11-10-2012 12:12 AM

Any Weds would be amazing w/ a full Mugen kit/bags...don't know about my setup which is more sport oriented...thoughts?

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/872...1328074601.jpghttp://img585.imageshack.us/img585/6...illensts81.jpg

mike410b 11-10-2012 12:32 AM

May I be candid with you?

The Mugen kit is ugly.

This is what I'd do:
Buy 2012 bumper.
Tasteful chrome accents on door handles, grille, somewhere on tailgate.
Lower more.
Buy huge, long spoiler, along these lines:

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...8/SDC10469.jpg

Then comes the tricky part.

Roll fenders, pull them if you'd like.
Take measurements using your current wheels as baseline.
Using measurements, calculate IDEAL wheel sizing.
Order cool Kranze in that sizing or within 2mm of it.

Have coolest GE in America.

lowkeymods 11-10-2012 12:43 AM

Mike you can always be candid with me...seriously :)

2012 bumper=yes it's vip but its ugry

Chrome accents=nahhh

Lower more=this spring

Spoiler=JDP OEM syle on now, think it could work

Lip=cf JDP lip doesn't seem to work w/ VIPish style, what to do?

Rolled/pulled fenders=done + I have a great shop here if I need anything more

How does one calculate size...measure from what to what????

Thanks Mike! I guess what I was thinking was some JDMish sport (PF01/CR Kai Emotion/RPF1) 17" wheel w/ 30-38 offset in some kind of hyperblack or polish would pull together what I have (carbon fiber/sportish feel) w/ a VIPish look...thoughts?

Vanct 11-10-2012 12:56 AM

THIS OR GO HOME.

Measure tyre/wheel to fender gap. Both at standard height and various levels of suspension compression. Get as close to flush as possible without ruining your fenders.
