2009 Sport Nav System Problem

I have a 2009 Fit Sport with the navigation package. Last December at 65,000 miles, my navigation system quit working. To repair it, the entire system (including the audio unit) had to be removed and shipped to California for repair. Four weeks later, it was reinstalled and worked fine. Two weeks ago, I have the same error again. The service is no longer under warranty. Besides the money, I am very frustrated at the headaches of going through this entire process again and being without the audio system.

Is anyone else having problems with the navigation systems?

Thanks for your thoughts.

The only error that i've had with my 09 fit navigation is that every once in awhile, it would have an issue reading the disk giving me a "please bring to dealership to remedy" type of thing. I have 95k miles on mine, FYI.

If you just recently had the new unit installed, it should carry a warranty in itself, especially if you paid for it. Even if it's outside of the warranty, it should still be covered since it's the same exact problem you're encountering. Go and check with the dealership to see what they can do for you.

I know for Toyota service, they have a 1 year warranty for parts and workmanship. I'm sure Honda has something similar.

that sucks. since it's out of warranty, you are faced with a) have it repaired out of pocket b) get an aftermarket replacement. but like petawabit stated, check with dealership if they warrant repairs they've done.

If I were paying money to replace the honda unit, I'd be buying an aftermarket unit. The major advantage of the honda one was that it was already installed.

That said, what kind of problem? Disk error or something else?

I have the 09 MT w/ Navi... not a single issue at all. Unless you count not updating the DVD (for new roads, etc).

If it was repaired you should be entitled to a 1 yr guarantee from the repair shop, double check that.

If you're not under warranty, get an aftermarket one. Even the more basic aftermarket Nav units are probably more advanced than the OEM Honda one... If you really want an OEM, you can find them on ebay for a much better price than new..

If you're gonna go for the OEM route you'd be much better off getting a Nav from a different Honda model (to get more features like backup camera, etc) like this link below.

i'd just get a kenwood since it has garmin inside. plus you can do so much more with aftermarket HU including BT and rear view camera, etc.

just having that flexibility is worth it, imho.

plus, the stock stereo on the GE's are so easy to remove vs GD...

i got OEM NAv it works great i like it for my needs but when it fails im for sure getting a good aftermarket

right, if you already have the stock nav just use that, but if out of warranty, i wouldn't bother getting another factory one to replace the broken one.
