This years [2013] navi map update worth it?
Just got the mailer. 145 bucks for new places to eat and destinations? Not inspired. Anyone do the 2013 update, particularly in NY?

They use to say every 3-5 years for updates but you can use your phone now for real time info. Roads don't change much.

How often do you go to places that GPS doesn't know all the streets on the way/can't guide you to?
|
I'll update soon, because my street isn't in the 2010 list. But I'll wait till the next year to catch all the road construction. How old is your current version?
|
I have a 2012 fit, so I think I'll pass for now.
|
This is why I will never buy a vehicle with factory nav. My Android phone is better, and Google maps updates are free.

Do we always need to rehash the built in vs phone/GPS handheld on every thread about GPS?

On that note, I wrote Honda about an update to the overall system interface (audio, navi, etc.). I said if they do an interface (firmware) update, along with the actual navi update they want me to purchase every year (so I no longer have to look at that godawful, butt-ugly, embarrassing GUI showing in my dash... and IT IS the most ugly, and dated audio/navi interface ever conceived) than I will be more than happy to pay for the update. If they do nothing about the 2011 and lower navi interface, within a reasonable amount of time, then I will be jerking the ugly thing (interface wise) out of my dash anyway. Anyone want to purchase a Honda Navigation system for possibly MUCH lower than what Honda charges for them? |
