Voluntary recall for more than 46,000 2012-13 Fits Sports
I got the notice yesterday - and I have a base model. No way am I bringing it in so they can make it more sensitive than it already is.
I dumped those POS stock tires with the quickness anyway - and after driving in last nights torrential downpour I was so glad I did.

Got my notice yesterday but have yet to open it
I'll most likely get it done just in case I sell my car or trade it in.
It's good to have documentation of any recall stuff so I'll have it done at my next oil change in a couple of weeks.I also turn off VSA as soon as I start my car.

most people say 'wat? you use vsa in the snow' and it's actually the exact opposite when you run good tires.
I've pressed that VSA button to the lower left many times and i never have any idea if it is on or off. How do you know?
Also, I like the way the car handles right now. Will this effect the handling at all?
HOW unsafe is it to not get it done?

I've noticed when turning into driveways with steep angle changes while going in at an angle and applying brakes that sometimes the brakes grab violently off and on rapidly. Maybe this recall will fix this issue. It's like the VSA is trying to maintain traction on the tire that is being lifted off the ground, but is way overcompensating.

I've found my 2012 sport to be safe whether the VSA is disabled or not but when I'm doing any spirited driving I like to turn it off.I think you will be fine without having the update but I'll get it done when I have time.

Meh. I guess I'm in the minority. Always have been. I ran on the duns in my 09 and I still run on them in my 2012. I always keep the VSA on. I don't drive like a coma victom either. And I kick the Fits ass from time to time when I have to- and it loves it. VSA has never thrown me off or bothered me and absolutely helped me a couple times in snow/ice, and I feel even safer with it on in the rain. That probably makes me a perfect candidate to actually get the recall done, which I will- a few months down the road when the line thins out a bit and they've done a ton of them.
the beeping and losing power abruptly when you most need it is the problem. it's disruptive and would cause me to have an accident vs preventing one.
i would rather have the tire spin a little bit vs the computer dictating my throttle input and throttling back for an undermined amount of time which we can't control or predict. we can prepare that the VSA might kick-in after a fast, bumpy turn, but for how long, that is always 'to be determined.'
at least when the tires are slipping, i can feel when the grip is coming back.
