I drive my Fit like a bat out of hell, I'm talking 10 or 15 over on the freeway all the time. I live right off the freeway so I take it everywhere, and then I speed in town too and I've never gotten less than 33 mpg average on a tank....
This is my experience as well. For the first 5 months I had it I drove it like a grandma and averaged around 36. Now my lead foot has reasserted itself a bit and I've getting around 33. I live in the SF Bay area with 3/4 freeway commute but much of that is stopandgo. Except for the bridge there isn't much elevation change, and I use 87 octane gas. On road trips I can average a bit over 45 following trucks (not anywhere near as closely as is typical in a local commute). These are whole tank calculated averages.
