This is my experience as well. For the first 5 months I had it I drove it like a grandma and averaged around 36. Now my lead foot has reasserted itself a bit and I've getting around 33. I live in the SF Bay area with 3/4 freeway commute but much of that is stopandgo. Except for the bridge there isn't much elevation change, and I use 87 octane gas. On road trips I can average a bit over 45 following trucks (not anywhere near as closely as is typical in a local commute). These are whole tank calculated averages.
