My Fit and wife's CRV (same issue)

I have a 2009 Sport and the wife has a 2014 CRV and we both have the same issue albeit more often with the CRV.

Since we have a garage, we NEVER lock the doors on our cars when at home. The issue is the doors randomly lock on their own. It doesn't happen immediately or in front of us but if we go back to the cars for whatever reason, the doors are locked. My wife's CRV does it more often than my Fit but it's perplexing and ticks me off..

Does anybody else have this problem? Thoughts?

random? i'm pretty sure the stock alarm auto locks after a minute or two.

True but if we just turn the car off and exit the vehicle(s), they should have no reason to lock. The alarm was not activated.

My 2010 Fit Sport does not lock automatically like this. It will, however, if I use the remote to unlock the doors and then don't open a door, lock all doors again after a few seconds. I've seen other posts about this issue in the past, too, and it seems to me the general consensus was this is not normal behaviour.

My 2012 base Fit does the same thing…locks itself seemingly randomly. There are instructions in my Owners Manual about setting the auto lock parameters, and I thought I has turned the whole system off, but I still get random, infuriating auto locking.

If anyone knows how to disable this system, or at least minimize it, I'd appreciate instructions.

I know about the fob and I'm cool with that feature. Actually kind of like it. But that's not what's happening as I am not using the fob at home.

As an example, I went to Home Depot yesterday and when I got home, I just shut the car off and got out and just this morning I go to check and.....LOCKED!

1. Make sure the shift lever is in the
Park (P) position (A/T vehicles).

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position, and open the driver's
door.

3. Push and hold the front of the
master door lock switch on the
driver's door until you hear a click
(after about 5 seconds).

4. Release the switch, and within 5
seconds, turn the ignition switch to
the LOCK (0) position.

You're welcome although it did squat for me and that's what's in the manual.

Can anybody with an AT Sport verify that no matter what setting you put it on, the doors lock as soon as you touch the button on the gear shift? It appears I am just stuck with this "issue".

I also leave my car unlocked in the garage ('10 Fit Sport). I've never had it lock in the way you describe. I park the car in the garage, turn off the engine and leave the keys on the passenger seat.

Are you removing the key from the cylinder?

Yes. I remove the keys and don't leave them in the vehicle for obvious reasons. ;)

Yep! Mine is set up to do that... after about 2-3 mins it locks.
