Flashing D problem...

This is my first post. Hello All!

I have a 2010 Honda fit sport a/t with about 100k miles. My father was the original owner and he gave it to me about 2 months ago. He was pretty meticulous with it, but I believe it has never had a tranny flush. I drove it with no issues for a couple weeks, but noticed a small leak on the driveway. I checked fluids, all seemed well....

Last week while commuting to work, My engine light and D was flashing. I googled real quick and saw tranny problem. Checked the fluid at the nearest gas station and saw it was barely on the dipstick! I filled with mercon III as a temp fix since I saw this in the manual. At this point I knew the leak was coming from somewhere in the tranny.

Life is busy, and I work a lot. So I had the code checked and reset. While the fluid level was fine, the light stayed off. Well, last night I filled less than 1/2 a qt with honda ATF fluid. I have been meaning to do a flush and see where my leak is, but timing just hasn't allowed....

Today while driving to work the light and d came back on, but I could not stop. I drove another 8ish miles. Got to work and checked fluid. It was still full...now I am worried.

Upon turning the car off and back on, the CEL is still on, but the D doesn't flash. However, it definitely shifts at weird points, and even slips slightly at low speed/rpms. I don't believe that my leak is that bad. At most I see a baseball sized puddle in the morning.

Advice? I have to drive pretty far to get to an auto parts store unfortunately, around 35 miles including the drive home afterwards.

Thanks for the long read. I have been in other forums before and I know it sucks.

TL;DR- Flashing D stopped when I filled with fluid, started again, but fluid level is fine...

You need to take a good look all over the transmission to see where the leak is coming from.

I recommend you just taking it to a mechanic and have them thoroughly check it out.

Yeah I know priority number one is ha e the leak fixed, that's for sure. What I want to make sure is that I haven't done irreparable damage. I'm just worried since my fluid is full, but the flashing D still triggered.

I also have to get to and from work for the next two days. It's about a 30 mile round trip. If I know I have fluid, can I really be causing more damage? With the cel on does the car shift funny because it thinks their is a problem and it goes into a "limp" mode?

The problem right now is... you don't know why it's flashing.

Not sure about shifting, since I have a manual... but if it's still limping (will NOT rev above 3k rpm), then you DEFINITELY need to take it in ASAP.

A leak might be the LEAST of your problems.

I understand what you mean. Since I don't know this car, I don't even know if it has a limp mode or what limp mode does. The car still shifts through the gears. I was able to let it sit for a while and it drove home not just fine. Cel is still on, but the flashing d is gone. It has not flashed again since it first triggered the cel. Drove the car twice after that: 1) short trip for lunch (where it felt jerky and off when shifting) 2) back home more than 12 hours after the d was flashing (seemed to drive just fine)

If anyone has experience with this, what was the issue? I have read that 1st/2nd or 3/4 pressure switches can go bad. I guess it would be possible that one of the sensors on the trans has a slight leak and is bad. I assume that would cause erratic shifting.

It's just very odd to me that the strange shifting went away, and that the d started flashing with full fluid

This outta cure Ya.
Also, do a drain and fill with the updated atf oil. Search this forum if you don't know.
