So I Smashed My Seatbelt...

I dropped the magic seat down too fast and directly onto the buckle/receiver in the rear (American) passenger side. It's toast. I've got a red bent plastic "push" piece, a bunch of springs and some warped out plastic. DERP. :o

Seems simple enough to replace, but I'm having difficulty locating that part. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance for any help.

Assuming your username means you have a 2012 car

Seatbelt has 15/150 warranty in 2012 models....(check your owners information)

Even though you may have caused it, take it to your local dealership see if they will warranty it.
Just say it doesn't buckle correctly anymore.

Thank You

Just got off the phone with the dealership. They want lots of dollars. I know the parts are cheaper and it's just one bolt to tighten. Is there anyone who knows how to find this type of part?

They do not make any of this easy.

Thanks in advance.

2012 Honda Fit, Black/Dark Grey seatbelt buckle. Base model. The buckle in question is on the rear driver side of the vehicle (American version).

Wow, I'm surprised the dealership is giving you a hassle for this. I remember years ago that car dealers would replace entire seatbelts for free, given that they were essential safety equipment.

Imagine if you made a stink about the poor design of the car making it *possible* to damage the seatbelt simply by using a feature (the magic seat), and the dealer/manufacturer refused to fix it. Even if the use of the feature was more like accidental misuse. Class action suit, anyone?

04823-TK6-A01ZA $55 from Bernardiparts.com

that's the part number for the rear passenger pair buckle.

I had seat belts in my previous cars 91 crx and 2002 si replaced free under warranty. I didn't cause them to break, but that's still surprising that they wouldn't cover yours. I feel like some dealerships are better than others about pushing warranty claims. Good luck. At least it's the rear... I can only imagine what you have to do for the fronts.... ABS systems are scary.

Thank You All!

Thank you all for your helpful feedback and information. I am just going to buy it and do it myself. No electronics involved with this one as far as I can see. It's a bit of hardware, fabric and plastic as far as I can see of what's left. I have a handy friend who can supervise, if necessary.

I will mention this incident to my dealer the next time I buy a new Fit.

I do love these cars despite the shit A/C system.

Sorry, last dumb question. When referring to parts in American terms, does the left side of the car refer to the driver's or passenger's side? I am confused.

i would assume so
