Bananaclip's 13 Sport Build thread

I recently (10-8-2015) purchased a super clean 13 sport 5 speed for a work commuter/fun to drive car. My sport came certified from a local Honda dealership with only 10k on the clock. :thumbups: I wanted to start this thread so I could create time log, bounce Ideas off, and get good advise from other FF members. This thread will also serve as a reliability information source due to the fact that I drive 140 miles 5 days a week to and from work. I also live in West Virginia so I will be driving in very mixed weather and sometimes extreme weather (snow) conditions.

My New Baby. 10-8-2015 the evening I brought her home.

I love the little car in stock form but I want to make some smart IMO mods for better handling and enhanced fun during my long commutes..:vtec:

I ordered a universal (High rated) blue tooth for talking and tunes from amazon last week. Today I ordered front and rear weather-tech floor liners,a Progress auto rear sway bar, AEM dry drop in filter, and a Tanabe touring Medallion cat back. I have read nothing but great reviews on the Progress bar and spoke with a few tuning companies about my exhaust choice. Every bit of information gathered made the touring medallion an obvious choice. I didn't want drone on the highway but wanted an exhaust that would give me a little more pep and a nice sporty note. I will be posting more as I recieve and install my new bits:vtec:

Congrats on the new car! I too have just bought a used fit and was wondering what site you found the rear sway bar from and if you had installed it yet how does it perform?

Thanks

I just ordered it today from THMotorsports. My car feels really good in the twisty's but the rear wants to lift/role. I have read great things about the bar and for $150 shipped I think its a sound investment. Congrats on your new/used ride as well.:vtec:

I have put close to 700 miles on the fit since I installed the new parts. I love how the car handles the twisties now and it feels more planted at highway speeds or excessive speeds:D The Medallion is exactly what I wanted. My car has a nice deep note and no drone on the highway. I would buy both parts again or recommend them to anyone. I Finally got my AEM drop in dry filter and it went in last evening. I kinda wish I just went ahead and ordered an intake. Oh well, my mom drives a 10 fit so any parts I wont be using can go on Momma's Fit

Nice nice - certified used car and just 10k original miles - that is SO SWEET!

I'm looking to add the Progress rear antisway bar on my 2012 as well ...
Its such a fun ride - hard for me to keep my foot out of it!
(just got mine 9/30/15 w/43k).

Thank you! I do consider myself pretty lucky to get such a low mile /clean fit. I am falling in love with mine. I highly recommend the bar. Big bang for the buck. I have more modding/tuning in mind and will update as they come to reality. I'm thinking buddy club short shift, weighted knob, coil-overs, adjustable camber, light weight wheels and nice tires for the spring/summer months. I want to dial in the suspension a bit more for sure and possibly even get a tuner for the ecu. I wish hondata had something for the GE8. :vtec:

SuperJ Nov 6, 2015 07:36 PM

ktuner has the ECU tuning covered and it's just as good as Hondata by all accounts.

Did your Sport come with a OEM sway bar that you replaced? Or did you just add the progress bar?
I'm jealous of the exhaust.

bananaclip Nov 6, 2015 08:24 PM

SuperJ, thanks for the heads up on the K-tuner! I am running both rear sway bars:thumbups: The exhaust is sooooo nice. You need one;)

You didnt answer the question presented. Yes the 1st/2nd gen sport has front/rear OEM anti-roll bars. Base 1st/2nd does not nor does any model 3rd gen.

Hmm - his post said he is running BOTH rear sway bars - so he installed the progress bar IN ADDITION to the Factory rear antisway bar.
It read clear enough to me ...

I've got a '12 sport 5sp - I plan to get a Progress bar also, just haven't decided if I'll run both or not.
As long as you don't lose ground clearance doing so, I don't know why not.

Sorry but I did respond that I was running both rear bars. Thanks for taking it into a deeper explanation:vtec:

In the pictures I posted (I know they wasn't the best quality) you can see the placement of the rear bar. I don't think you will have any clearance issues whatsoever. Running both bars is the way to go in my book. The addition of the progress bar made a major difference in terms of body roll. I like my cars to handle flat in turns. With both bars installed there is still some body role. I just found a good source last evening for the Tanabe upper strut bar for the rear. I plan on picking one up. I would have ordered it last evening but I pulled the trigger on a new Injen CAI. :thumbups:

I just switched jobs from within so I wont be putting crazy miles on my little girl anymore. The Job I change not only came with a pay increase it came with a vanpool. I work for the Federal Government and the new job put me on a consistent shift that allows me to catch a van five minutes from my house!!!!!!!!!!!! The job also came with weekends and holidays off:vtec:

Myxalplyx Nov 22, 2015 04:23 PM

Congrats on the new job! Nice Fit btw!

SuperJ Nov 22, 2015 06:06 PM
