AT down shifting issues.

So I have a 2010 AT for some odd reason the down shift paddle only works if the wheel is turned!? won't downshift if the wheel is straight anyone ever have this issue?

It sounds like the so-called clock spring (the flexible electrical connection between the wheel and the rest of the car) is worn/faulty. (I assume the paddles turn with the steering wheel and are not mounted on the stationary steering column—since I have a manual transmission, I must admit I'm a bit clueless about details of the automatic transmission controls.)

If it is the clock spring, I would probably not try to repair it myself in as much as it's rather finicky work and it requires mucking around with the airbag unit. If you do attempt it, make certain you disconnect the battery for a good while before starting work to avoid accidental airbag deployment.

I think the part is Honda P/N 77900-TK6-A21, and is #2 on the "ELECTRICAL / EXHAUST / HEATER / FUEL : SRS UNIT" page of the exploded parts diagrams:

I have not had this issue myself, for obvious reasons. :D
