Engine oil leak?
 

I was looking at my Fit today and saw this leak or something. Is this normal or what could it be? This is located next to the battery and on top of the transmission dip stick.

Looks like that small hose is a vapor/condensate drain for something?

I would say that that is not an oil leak. That is dirt. Clean it off with something nice like a clean rag and WD-40. Then, keep an eye on it. Clean that hose, too. Like DW said, that hose could be a drain-off for something that contains oily waste. When it lands on engine parts, it then attracts road dirt like a magnet.

Just guessing, of course. :)

Maybe for the tranny ?

Not sure but just wondering if anybody here have experience this.

It is the transmission breather vent tube, normal.
Just clean off the spots.
Check the trans fluid level.

FYI check under battery box for any corrosion
 

I know that's just dirt there from breather vapor, but FYI also check the metal battery support shelf UNDER the plastic box it sits in for corrosion. Don't overfill your cells, only just cover the plates w/distilled water. Did this a couple years ago and it dripped right there near the starter. Had to clean/Rustoleum the metal support. Just a PITA to clean the mess up :puke:

Well, we all know now that you never wash down your engine bay. That engine is filthy.:p;)

If you want to do a good cleanup, use Gunk Foamy engine spray on a warm engine. After that, use Gunk Engine Protector spray as a finish detailer. Makes all plastic and rubber very shiny and makes future road dirt easier to clean. Worked great on my Fit!

This has always made me wonder. I don't know the exact cleaning process for the Gunk Engine Protector, but I assume at some point, you wash it off with water. Seems to me like cold water hitting a hot (warm) aluminum engine head/block is a bad idea??

Normal engine temp, I wouldn't think any problem. You'd have the same thing going on when you splash through deep puddles on the road already.
I've never had such a problem washing a fully warmed up engine.

Now if the engine were overheated and you tried to pour icewater into the radiator, that might be a problem.
