Modified Fit faster than GTI, MR2 & nearly as fast as MB 190E 2.3 16V?
Op-Ed
Through modest modifications, I have managed to make my 2010 Honda Fit Sport manual USA Fit run 5-60 MPH in about 9.1 secs (best run; 10.5 stock). There are some on this forum that believe doing this is a waste of time - "you just made a slow car not quite so slow". '86 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3-16 8.9secs 0-60 MPH (.2secs faster) '83 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI 9.7secs (.5secs Slower) '85 Toyota MR2 9.7sec (.5secs Slower) These cars are plenty fun and so is my Fit. New cars are much faster now and many cars are faster than the Fit. So what!? Its about Fun and now my Fit has just a touch of Ummmph! How much racing on public roads do you plan to do? May I advise against that? What a seriously fast car gets you is trouble, scared, higher costs and increases the likelihood of your death. Its all about fun not sheer speed on public roads. There is a little pocket rocket in the Fit. You just got to mod. it a little to bring it out. I do miss driving the 190E 2.3-16 valve though,
it has a unique shift pattern where the 2nd to 3rd gear is straight. It was a very fun car to drive and solidly built, and looks very nice. I really enjoy driving that car in 1994! Good ol days :) I wish there is time machine :) |
Go Fund Me page?
Nice.
Figure with Yonaka Cat-back exhaust, super light rims and tires and removing heated throttle body might make my Fit run 5-60 MPH in 8.9 secs (tie MB 2.3 16V). Who wants to start a Go Fund Me web page to make this possible?? :) |
