Hello fellow fitfreakers! Happy New Years to all of you and your Fits!

Unfortunately I have come across a point in my life where my transportation needs have changed.....

I really hate to get rid of my baby, but my new job requires me to highway commute daily and the Fit is just unfitting for this purpose, especially mine as the way it sits.

I would hate to trade it in because I know the dealership would probably stuff me in the arse due to the mods.

So I probably will be trying the private seller route.

Here are some basic info:
2011 Sport model 5MT
50k miles

I have all oem parts except the oem 16in wheels.

It is garage kept so exterior is in excellent condition as is with the interior
No accidents, 2nd owner

What is a fair price?

 

I have a daily 24 mile each way commute with 20 of them on the Illinois tollway (where the median speed is ~70 mph). I have no problem driving my 09 Fit on the highway. It can keep up with traffic just fine. I say keep it.

 

Your best bet is to part out and convert to stock as much as possible. It will open your pool of potential buyers.

Also in your build thread (linked) you list you have a 2009 Fit and here you list you have a 2011 Fit. You need to get that figured out before you sell. You don't want someone running a carfax report on your '11 only to find out its an '09.

With 50k on and assuming its an '11 I say around 8k-9k. I know FittedonEm sold his '12 with 72k for about 7.5K give or take.

 

Thanks guys, I don't like to drive the Fit too much on the highway due to the sound and suspension. I definitely do not feel like changing everything back to stock.

I'm eyeing this 2013 Genesis sedan R spec with only 3000 miles on it......ugh so tempting!!

 

Yeah I'd have to agree with Mr. Hollow...to get the most bang for buck best to sell car as stock to maximize the demographic of buyers as well as get the most $$$ for your mods. Unfortunately not everyone wants a tricked out car and some may even think that it has been driven hard thus less appealing.

What part or the US are you in? Some nice parts you got there

Can also try selling it in the classifieds here. There is a 2011 with mods and 67k miles asking for $10k.

i decided against it, the whole reason i got this car was for fun because driving automatic was getting way too boring. Just going to keep modding it lol. Thanks fellas!

 

op- is ur ride slammed or something? how about getting some swifts and just keep the car. seem REAL SILLY to me u selling a car like da Fit to get another dd. lol Fit is a dd. unless u get A LOT of crosswind, u'll be fine.

 

it is on swifts, and its loud. I have a 12' camry se i switch off with every other day so i decided not to trade in the fit.

 

I have a question.
I'm one of those boring "Stock Fit" guys.
But I respect those that "Mod" their Fits. Some of the work done is amazing. And I can see where it would be a rewarding hobby at the very least.

But my question is this.
Is eventual boredom inevitable?
I mean, do you buy a Fit (or any vehicle really) and start modding. Slowly or rapidly adding aspects and things you want. Eventually reaching the point where you've got it the way you want it..with really nothing left to do.
Then if you really enjoy modding a vehicle what is left to do but move on to the next project? Even if you really love what you've done to that point?

I suppose some of it would depend on financial means. Can you afford to keep a mostly completed project while simultaneously starting and owning a "new" project? But I wonder how often the dynamic isn't so much really needing a new vehicle or maybe even really wanting a new vehicle, but more just really wanting a new project?

 

I think it all depends on the individual, some build relationships, others are just modding just because. Relationship with a car is harder to break.
