Silly question for cold climate FF's

Hello all, this might be a silly question but i just got my fit so bear with me.:rotfl:

I Took my fit up to the mountains and went for a hike, after i got back, the car was cold (30 F) and after starting it i turned on the heater (pointed at the windshield) and the defroster.

The fit was idling at 1800. after i turned the defroster and ac comp off it went back down too its normal 800.

I know i am paranoid but Is this normal?

It was just a coincidence. It always start out at higher rpm like 1800,then drops down to 800 after about 30 seconds. Turning on the defroster didn't affect it.

30F cold? lol.

Most cars will rev a bit higher when first started when it is cold. They quickly settle down to normal idle speed.

If the AC compressor is engaged, it is a drag on the engine, so the engine has to compensate by running a little harder.

When sitting in a parking lot, at idle, engage the AC to see what happens.

Running the defrost / ventilation fan motor has less to do with it than the AC compressor and starting a cold engine.
