Are US spec transmission CTV or not... And what would be the max power the transmission can handle

North America:
2007-13 used automatic
2015 and newer use CVT

IDK about max power though. I think the power vs. life ratio would be inversely proportional.

The trick is there is not a lot of upgrade parts for either one, I did find a small shift upgrade kit for my 07 Auto yesterday,, its 70 bucks and gets installed in the valve body... But not like the options for a US domestic tranny like a TH400 or a 4L80.

The one thing that the typical CVT design does not like is extended heavy torque, it will increase wear on the "belt" and shives/Pulleys, a large cooler would be the first thing I'd add as well as a large filter & Magnet to make sure the cruft from the extra work wear and tear is taken out of the system. CVT's shed a more metallic residue than the clutch packs in an auto. (generally,,, ) and since they have a constant "slip" in the basic function keeping the fluid clean is the biggest thing to help them live.

I drive a (USA) '13 Auto, so don't have the CVT. I'm uncertain of the difficulty in changing CVT fluid in a Fit, but I crossed the CVT-equipped Nissan Versa Note off my list because changing the CVT fluid on it appeared to be extremely difficult and far beyond my DIY skills. Honda's process may be far easier, but the CVT fluid change process and frequency may be worth consideration.
