2010 Honda Fit won't go over 10 mph?

Has anyone else had an issue when the car won't go over 10 mph? The mechanic working on it said he can't figure it out. Please help!

Sounds like it's in limp mode. Guessing it's throttle body related?

ECU should have a code to give direction.

Mechanic is broken. Replace mechanic.

Agree that mechanic is broken. Or else it won't go over 10 bc it's a 2010. My 2012 maxes out at 12.

:rotfl:

More seriously, I think you should find a better mechanic.

Someone needs to upgrade. 18 MPH is the future and it's here today!

In all seriousness, that symptom is so overtly blatant that failure to know what is wrong simply would suggest to me you need a technician better trained or with access to honda computer diagnostic tools.

....simply, I can't figure it out...isn't a good enough answer.

The second part is the case I would bet. A car doesn't enter limp mode without providing the reason. Even a basic code scanner will give a direction to head.

At least it's an honest answer, instead of firing the parts cannon to get all your money.

But they probably expect you to pay $100+ checkout fee for that answer.

May be honest. But not an answer I would accept. It's pretty much an admission of incompetency or lack of diagnostic tools to really do the job.

I'm assuming this isn't a Honda Dealership and we are talking about an independent mechanic.
