Battery Life

I still have the original battery in my 2010 Fit Sport purchase new 11/10. I've had it tested at the garage each year and they've said it's fine. We have cold winters where I live and have had no issues so far. I'm bringing the car in tomorrow for maintenance, and again the battery will be checked. How long is too long? I'm curious how long others are getting from their original battery.

That battery must be a gem. I have had to replace the one on my 09 fit twice already. admittedly... one of those was my fault for not starting up the car for two weeks.

just did my battery this week in my 2013. I had to bump start it twice and was having issues with my projectors not coming on.

I did the 51R upgrade, it was easy in my car because I have a HPS intake. I just cut the passenger side off the battery box and put it back in (after some rust clean up and painting). The Positive terminal was a little taught going over the post, but was a breeze otherwise.

Former NAPA store manager opinion... If you are lucky enough to make it to 5 years, replace it. Unless you always have friends nearby, always know where a parts store is, you don't mind parking lot battery swaps, etc.. Just ask yourself how inconvenient it will be when it dies. Some people wait for a battery to die, then pay the price of a new battery to have their car towed, then buy a battery anyway, costing them almost double in the long run.

Awesome luck though!

as long as you keep maintaining your batteries, it will last more than 10yrs.
all 3 of my Fit batteries outlasted my ownership.. 5-6yrs, no issue when sold. our winters go sub-0F.
current GK no issue

Sometimes budget precludes applying this philosophy.
BUT...
I agree.
I've always tried to replace my battery ASAP as soon as it starts giving any overt signs of failure.
If I'm over 4 years of ownership and usage, and get any typical weak battery symptom...I think it's time to replace.
Waiting for total failure, hoping you can get a jump, or recharging to hope to get a few more beats out of a dying heart?
Not worth it to me.

Exactly. I replaced mine at 5 years even though it was doing just fine. It's not worth the hassle of having a dead one.

My stock battery is about 4.5 years old. With the colder weather coming it takes maybe like an extra second or two to start the engine. Hope I can squeeze another year out of it. I bought myself some jumper cables just in case though : )

My former GD Fit lasted 8 yrs. Before a change was needed.

The GK however, didn't fare out the same.

With the audio mods, looked liked the alternator couldn't keep up. Lasted 2 years, but thankfully the Honda warranty covered it even after I relocated to Canada.

Two years since, the replacement still growing strong. Most probably as I have a Battery Tender on it every time after a long drive.

Seems that the audio upgrades I installed sucks up more juice than can be replenished by the stock alternator.

Early GKs had an issue with bad batteries so your audio mods may not have had anything to do with it. My GK was built 12/14 so I'm almost 4 years on the OG battery

Battery life in the Fit....seems really hit or miss.
My old post in this thread is from my now gone 2010. And I went 2+ years with no problem.
My 2016 is now going on 2+ years, no problem, and I run the radio, without the engine on, for at least 10-20 minutes a day, on my lunch breaks.

I personally feel like with a battery as small as the Fits, if I can get 3-5 years I'm happy.
I suppose I could wake up tomorrow and get symptoms of failure, but so far, so good. I'm hoping to get another year or two..or three...
