Front damage most likely totalled

Sadly I was involved in an accident in the freeway where I rear ended a truck and it doesn't end up well for my Fit that will be most likely totalled. The truck Chevy Silverado has a minor bumper damage only.
Luckily nobody got injured. I got bruised on my hands due to airbag and muscle sprain on my neck.
Most likely will be getting another Fit in the future.

Distracted driving maybe?

2Rismo2 07-19-2018 07:19 AM

Glad you're OK. The cabin looked like it held up pretty well. Looks like most of the damage was from the car diving underneath the truck.

What generation are you looking as a replacement?

Fit10 07-19-2018 07:30 AM

Happy to hear no one was injured.

Bummer about the car potentially being a total loss.

As challenging as the whole situation may be, if you can walk away from an accident with all the people involved OK, but limit the reality to it didn't end up well for the vehicle that is still a good thing.

I'd take the opportunity to look at "All Options" for my next potential purchase.

Glad you came out mostly unscathed. Good luck with the healing process, both physically and Fit-ically.

Insurance question

Thank you. Yes fortunate that no major injuries on both parties.
Question regarding insurance, would the insurance adjuster price be higher if i keep my enkei wheels or it doesnt matter? I am planning on getting some steelies to replace it.

Fit10 07-19-2018 02:15 PM

In Canada the aftermarket parts don't matter unless you have an appraisal and you have been paying additional insurance to cover the non OEM parts.

I'm going to say that it won't change the value of what the insurance adjuster is going to offer. Might be worth removing the wheels and selling them.

I am going there to remove my wheels and probably sell them or use it on my next car. I bought some steelies for $50.

that def looks salvage/totalled. it doesnt take much. this is how my gk5 looked, when it was slapped on with a salvage title:

def keep those wheels, and use them on your next honda fit!

Well just came back from towing place and they said I can't swapped my wheels because it is not allowed. Once it gets to the salvage yard, hopefully I can swap my wheels.

That seems a little odd that you can't claim your property from the vehicle.

Have you spoken with the adjuster about retrieving you rims?

i know and not sure if all towing company have that rule? They even only allow you 10 mins inside to retrieve your stuff.
Called insurance Friday but no luck so will try to call them Monday.

I had my car home after it got into an accident. The adjuster even was nice enough to give me a week to remove all my aftermarket parts. Once their tow truck takes it, its theirs.

Talk to your adjuster. See if they will give u sometime before they officially salvage your car.

Yeah should've done the same. Hopefully the adjuster will allow me to swap my wheels.
