gas tank capacity?

I bought a used '13. On my first tank of gas, I ran it down until the gas light just came on, then I filled it up to the very top (I could see fuel in the filler tube). I put in 10.7 gallons! The specs say the gas tank is only 10.6 gal. (I'm pretty sure the gas station was legit and not trying to scam me by modifying their pumps.) Was the extra volume in the filler tube? On a related note: I don't think filling the tank to the very top of the filler tube is a good idea, but I was trying to fill the gas tank up to a consistent level to check mileage. Is there some other way to fill the tank up consistently? (Gas pumps click off at very inconsistent levels)

the gas light turns on when u have approximately one gallon of gas left give or take. so u filled up to 11.6 give or take.

Try to use the same pump at the same gas station every time.

Is is it really off by that much? I mean a 1/4 of a gallon won’t effect your mpg number by much. I doubt they are that far off but idk.
