GE OEM Cruise Control Retrofit? Any successful ones?
Hello,
I am sure this has been covered, but I could not find it using the search function. I recently picked up a used 10' Tidewater Blue BASE model Fit as a commuter. I did not think to look for cruise control on the car when purchasing it. Realized it did not have it when I got it home (wasn't a big deal breaker anyway), I looked into options. I see an aftermarket version but at $300, I figured why not look into OEM stuff w/ used parts seeing how these cars are old. Anyway, my research has brought me here SO FAR: The Fit uses the gauge control module as it's cruise control module. Using a scanner, I performed a component output test and saw my Gauge Module DOES in fact have the Cruise lights in it. I was found when monitoring live data in the Gauge Control Module, there are information lists for cruise control. Making me believe it will in fact work w/ a base instrument cluster. I Purchased the cruise control buttons w/ harness for Clock spring. I found the Clock spring DOES NOT HAVE THE PINS for the cruise control. ' Also found I will need to add wiring from the Clock spring connector to the gauge control module as the cruise control switch inputs are not there. This is where it gets tricky. I now have to purchase a clockspring from a fit with cruise control. Better yet I am purchasing one w/ steering wheel audio controls as well so I can wire that up. |
I know this is very old post and im not sure if you're even active on here anymore but im curious if you were successful with this?
