Not interested in that but I am interested in a switchblade style key, like the Ridgeline has.

Not sure if it will work with the 09's as I dont think anyone has tried it yet. But this thread https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...e-key-fob.html had the full diy info on how to do the Switchblade key.

I just checked that thread and the pics are no longer up, but the instructions are still there.

I wonder if that switchblade key will work with the 09's?
This way I can keep it in my pocket without ripping my pockets.

Yes...looks that way... I`m taking my A$$ to the dealer tommorow to see how much... or even if I can get one... since the Mugen Civic RR parts are almost impossible to get unless you have the title for the car.... ( lets see if my hook up can pull through )

I looked briefly at the eBay listing, but I don't need it.

After pricing a third key (backup to the spare) I opted to have the dealer just cut a plain key. It will only unlock the door, but that will be fine if I accidently lock the main key in the car somehow. Cost $10, but the top of the key is unfinished. I drilled the small hole for a ring.

I wish the fit key dob was folding, can't stand having the key the way it is. Can't keep it in my pockets.

Thanks for posting that. I'm going to see if I can get that done too. I'll probably cut off the handle part so the key fits better into my wallet.

+1 rep for you.

If you cut off the handle, how will you turn the key?

It's not hard. The lock turns quite freely plus I have strong fingers.

When you use this key to unlock the doors, it will also disengage the alarm right?

I have not tried it yet, but presumably I could unlock the door, reach in for the "real" key, and disable the alarm.

It makes me feel better carrying it, anyway. I have never locked a key inside.

On trips where I might run the risk of toasting the eletronic key, I am still compelled to carry a backup. One errant rip to the Jacuzzi would do it!
