09 Gas Tank Thumping?

Has anyone else noticed right before you stop or go the gas tank thumps and swooshes? Esp. with a full tank of gas. I kept hearing a thumping right before my car came to a complete stop. I could hear it quite prominently.
I've never experienced this in a car before. I know its probably do to being such a small car and lack of sound proofing.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed this as well?

can't say i have....but when you say thumping, that makes me think "something has got to be wrong". Wonder if anyone else has noticed this.

The Fits have a center-mounted fuel tank and you can hear the "swooshing" so well because the tank is literally right below your seat. No need to worry.

When I say thumping I mean I hear one thump (meaning gas gets thrown to one side of the tank all at once) then I will hear light water swooshing sounds after the fact.
Note: I only noticed this when I have a completely full tank. I have 3/4 tank now and don't hear it.

37K on my 07 and now an 09
Both cars could have a definite slosh noise as the tank is only 3 feet below your ears. I dont know if I ever had a thump, maybe a very muted low frequency thump!?!? Yeah prolly a bit of that.
99.99% chance it is normal, but there is an extremely unlikely chance that something got dropped in the tank during the manufacturing process.
No worries, next time you are at your dealer have them give a listen.

Under you is actually a very safe place to have your tank AND it is a key design factor in the HUGE interior space in such a small car

I've heard this in both my 07 & 09. I just figured it was the hamster acting up, but i guess the gas sloshing around would make a little more sense.

I know of some guy who took in his Mazda RX-8 for service and got a call from the service guys saying they had found a rat inside the car. Funniest part of the story was that the service guys refused to work on anything until the owner himself came and got rid of the rat. True story.
