SOUNDS GREAT, but what's the damage?
 

This morning I revved up my 2009 Sport NAV, and released it from the icy grasp of 4 inches of snow-ice. As I reversed over the small wall the plow had left behind my car, not even 6 inches high, there was of course some scraping of the underbelly. I shifted into drive and lo and behold!!! I'm now driving a tuner car with a gorgeous deep throaty note. Surely I had removed a section of the exhaust from my vehicle!!! Yet my mechanic saw NOTHING. As I pulled away from the mechanic, the FIT roared again, sounds like a G35. If I ain't crazy, there also seems to be a small loss of power. I checked to see if I left any FIT parts near where I scraped the underbelly and I see nothing. Any thoughts anyone? Remember, I backed out and scraped the underside. This snow -ice we have in Jersey is right now strong enough to hold my 300 lbs without breaking the surface. Hard as rock.

check if there is a hole in the flex pipe.... Listen if it is roaring then there must be something broken or with a hole.. can you possibly post pictures from the underside of your car...

He may have seen nothing but with a mechanic's stethoscope he should be able to pinpoint where the sound's coming from.

In defense of my mechanic and friend, I been thinking two scenarios: I explained to him I feared I damaged something, but not that the car's exhaust note had changed; was throaty. It's my fault which leads me to number 2, as far as he knows, thats what my car is supposed to sound like.

You could be leaking from one of the flange sections of the exhaust. Your friend might have been looking for some actual damage when u could have just sheared one of the bolts @ the flange and it's leaking from there. You might not even notice if u were just looking for piping damage.

Otherwise just start the car and put ur hand under while someone revs it u should feel the leak if it's making so much noise.
